She was born March 1, 1919, in Chambers County to John Henry Hammock and Pearlie Mae Hammock. She led a simple life looking after her father and sister, sold Avon for a number of years and was a loving aunt to many nephews and nieces. Miss Hammock was a longtime member of Lanett Congregational Christian Church. Surviving her are nephews, Joel (Linda) Holley, Larry (Cynthia) Hammock and Paul (Toni) Cash; and nieces, Judy (Gerald) McClurg and Sally (Phillip) Whitt.

Miss. Hammock was predeceased by her parents, John Henry and Pearlie Mae Hammock; a brother, Earl (Mae)Hammock, and sisters Lois (Howard) Richardson, Lou (Byron) Cash, Dot Edge, Sue Hammock and Dahlia (Gwen) Holley.
