Gladys Turner Faulkner went to be with her Lord and Savior early Friday morning, October 28, 2016.

She was the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Sallie Matthews Turner. She was a member of Butner Baptist Church for fifty-seven years and worked at John Umstead Hospital for thirty-one years. She also worked at Durham Regional Hospital and Rose Manor for twenty-seven more years before retiring.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Butner Baptist Church by Rev. Charlie Bryant and Rev. Glen Brock. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.

Surviving are her sons, Ronnie (Jennene) of Wendell. Ray (Joni) of Washington, and Steve (Teresa) of Butner, three grandchildren, Matt, Brittany and Steve and five sisters .She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ruth Helms Prayer Group, c/o Butner Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Monday evening, October 31, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Butner Baptist Church.

Bothers Faulkner, I'll be the first to say that your mother was one of the Butner natives. I can state with out a doubt that I never saw her un-set, how ever Ronnie, Ray & steve may disgree. Your sorrow and loss has been felt by many, as your mother was a sweet soul. Good to see you all Monday night and to see you all at peace with the passing with your mother. Gladys was such a kind, friendly gentle spirit! I was fortunate to work with her at Durham Regional Hospital. She was always enthusiastic and caring about her patients and colleagues.
Gladys was very close friends with Hazel Yarborough, my husband Robert Laws' aunt. Gladys told the story of coming home from somewhere and one of her sons said "mama someone has left some food for us. I don't remember her name but she must be poor like us b/c its pinto beans!" it was Hazel.
I was lucky and fortunate to work with Gladys' brother Coy at JUH. The heavens are full of joy with the Turners.

Mrs. Faulkner was a very friendly neighbor. Whenever I saw her we would have a casual conversation about her yard, her new car, or just about the weather. I admired the way she was active and independent until shortly before her death. I regret never taking her up on her invitation to attend Bible study at her church. I'm glad her transition was peaceful. Family, you have my sympathy, but how fortunate you were to have had her for so many years. Don't be sad that she died; be glad that she lived.

Steve, Ronnie and Ray,
   Your mom has always been a blessing and ray of light to my family and to me personally. She always had a smile and a good word when I saw her, and always, always concern for her boys and their well-being. You were as blessed as I was to have such a mom, and with my own dad's death this past week and mom's still fresh on my heart, learning of your mom's passing was salt in an open wound. At the same time however, her faith has saved her and that is a sweetness to my soul and should be to yours. We can see her again, and ourselves be with her in heaven for sure. Jesus saves, Jesus saves; what a joyful sound.
