Gloria Carmela Gallo (Licata), 98, entered into the Eternity of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 17, 2023, while at home, surrounded by her loved ones. Gloria’s devotion to family, and her firm belief in God, were a constant throughout her many years on this earth, and ultimately gave her peace.

Gloria was born on May 21, 1924, in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, and resided in the Trenton, New Jersey area most of her life. She worked at Roller Bearing of West Trenton, cooked at Fred & Pete’s Delicatessen, and cleaned the church at St. Raphael’s and Capital Assembly of God for many years. Despite her humble means, there was nothing she would not do for her family. She helped her siblings to care for her nieces and nephews, and, as a grandmother, she played an integral role in the process of raising five grandchildren under her roof. Her efforts to cook and clean for every household in her family were endless.

Gloria loved to paint and refinish furniture, but her true passion was sharing the gift of salvation with others. Her legacy lives on through the countless believers to whom she witnessed, and whom she brought to know Jesus. She longed to one day place crowns of rejoicing and righteousness on her head, and to proudly wear them in the presence of Our Father.

Gloria was predeceased by her husband, John F. Gallo; parents, Felix and Elizabeth Colecchi Licata; four sisters and a brother, Julia Licata, Olga Bognanno, Rudolph Licata, Antonette Licata Wendleton, and Geneva Deslauries.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Glory and Karl “Tinker” Johnston of Hamilton; one sister, Patricia Amantia of Hamilton; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jonathan and Angela Johnston, Shawn and Sara Johnston, Karl and Kellie Johnston, Chelsea and Andrew Septer, and Brianna and Zac Smith. Also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Ty, Sunday, Welles, Cleo, Indigo, Sonny, Judah, and Graham; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Capital Assembly of God, 1380 Whitehorse Hamilton Square Road, Hamilton Township, New Jersey. A Christian Celebration of Life Service will follow at 10:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Capital Assembly of God, 1380 Whitehorse Hamilton Square Road, Hamilton Township, NJ 08610, or to the Alzheimer Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

Aunt Gloria as I called her for many years, was a loving, caring and special women. Beautiful on the inside and the outside. My memories of her go back many, many years. I met her through my best friend Patty, her younger sister back in the 50'. Through the years I would see her on special occasions. She was a beliver in the Lord and had shared her beliefs with many through the years. She also was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother to her lovely family. She will be missed and loved by all who knew her. May she rest in peace and enjoy her new home in Heaven.

Gloria was a wonderful friend and if anyone needed anything she would help you in any way possible. She was a dear friend to me and my family. I will surely miss her, but knowing her she is having a great time with our Lord, with her new body I might add. Loved her and cherished her very much.
God surely blessed this woman, who could not get around alot, but saved alot of souls for our Lord. What a warrior she was. God bless her family.

Gloria watched my 2 daughters when they were young, I was a single mom at the time. Every day when I would pick them up, Gloria always encouraged me and talked to me about the Lord. She was so kind to my girls and I, but tough too! No nonsense! No matter what was going on, if you asked her how she was, her response was “praising through” every time! She was a gem and now she is with her Lord!!
