'Happy Mother's Day In Heaven'

In my heart are many memories
Of the loving things you've done,
And today I want to tell you
That I'm thankful for each one.
  There is a special memory
  I'd like to mention too...
  Ever since I can remember
  I remember loving YOU.

Of all the gifts that life has to offer, a loving Mother is the greatest of them all. Life is not the same without you Mum.

Today marks the first anniversary of the passing of my Auntie Gloria. I'll always remember how fortunate I was to see her one last time just 2 days before she died. I had flown to Melbourne from Brisbane that Friday and had a couple of hours to spare and cousin Ray picked me up from the airport and took me to visit his Mum & Dad, My Auntie Gloria & Uncle Sam. I didn't know at the time how lucky I was to have been given the chance to see her for what turned out to be the final time. It was meant to be I guess. If not for Ray it would never have happened.
I'm sure everyone is missing her and remembering her today more than ever.

It's a special bond that spans the years
Through laughter, worry, smiles and tears.
A sense of trust that can't be broken,
A depth of love sometimes unspoken.

A life long friendship built on sharing,
Hugs and kisses, warmth and caring.
Mother and Daughter their hearts as one
A link that can never be undone...

In loving memory of Mum on Mother's Day.

Thinking of Mum today on her 87th birthday and remembering the many happy occasions we shared when we came together as a family to celebrate her special day.

Today is full of memories
Happiness and tears
Of birthday celebrations
We've shared throughout the years.

And though I'll always miss you
The endless joy you brought,
Warms my heart with gratitude
And fills my every thought.

Wherever you are resting
I hope that you can see
How precious and uplifting
Your memory is to me.

I feel that you are with me
In everything I do
So I'll celebrate your birthday
But I'll spend it missing you.

Thinking of our dear Aunty Gloria who would have celebrated her 87th birthday today. During many visits to Melbourne over the years, attending Aunty Gloria's birthday was always a highlight.

'Sadly missed along life's way,
quietly remembered every day...
No longer in our life to share,
but in our hearts, you're always there'.

Another fond memory of my Aunty Glor, I was turning 21 and being a young mum with a one and a half year old and another four months old we were struggling with cash flow, as my party neared Aunty Glor said, " what sort of dress are you wearing love", l said oh nothing special, l don't have the money, l only had a week before the party... we were in the victoria market at the time, Aunty Glor said, go and pick a material you like, and I will make you a dress ( in a week )...my Aunty supplied the lace, zip, cotton and of course her time, l collected the dress In the market the day before my party, it was a long yellow dress with green lace at the bust, with bell sleeves, a really gorgeous 70's modern dress, l felt beautiful, hip and up to date..l think the dress all up cost me $7.00 for material, l thank you dear Aunty Glor for caring that l look special on the day, that was you all over...And talking to Linda last week brought back memories of me going over to Brunswick when l was a young teenager and linda and l " GO GOING" to Barbra Anne and many other songs, we danced and danced and giggled and giggled as young girls do.
And you Aunty Glor made cakes, scones and great stuff for us to party on, you were also the best cake maker...You were a dear and special Aunty who is sadly missed...your loving niece Janette ♡♡♡

God Bless you....P's l have the photo of my 21st...and my beautiful dress.♡♡♡

......from an email received from Lesley Tuddenham.

Mrs Harrison was a lovely, gentle lady, always with a smile
I will especially remember the time she joined Hilda, Linda & myself for a birthday lunch @ Maling Rd. She was excited to see chips as a side dish & enjoyed every bite.

My deepest sympathy to Linda & family.

To my gorgeous Auntie Gloria, I myself was very fortunate enough to be able to spend a lot of time with you as a child.
In my younger days I spent so much time at nan & pops,it gave me the opportunity to spend quality time with you and Uncle Sam.
One very dear memory I have of you Auntie Gloria is coming home from the Vic Market on a saturday afternoon and waltzing around the kitchen in Barry st Northcote to Engelbert Humperdinck, the last waltz...
I remember you would partner Uncle Sam & I would parter off with Nan..
We waltzed around that kitchen like we were at a Gala Ball..
The day of the funeral when that song was played, I looked at my husband Frank with my tear filled eyes & he just said I know sweetheart I know...
As I often would tell Frank of that beautiful memory every time we would hear that song played.
Now when I hear that song played I have 2 beautiful angels looking down on me.
You and nan dancing along with me.
Auntie Gloria you were such a gentle soul, loved by all that had the pleasure of knowing you.
Till we meet again we love you & you'll be sorely missed.
Your loving Nieces & Nephews Tess (Teresa) Frank, Aaron Chris, Rob, Kimberly, Jayden & Anthony xox

Your Special
   You're a very special person
With a warm and friendly way,
   Who puts a special rainbow
      In each and every day.
And the world would be much brighter
      If everyone we knew
Were just as kind and wonderful
      In every way as you.

I remember when we went to nan and pops on the school holidays going to Greensborough plaza for hot chocolates with Aunty Linda, Aunty Eve, Judy and sometimes Uncle Peter. When all the shopping was done we would head home to have fresh vegemite sandwiches with Nans cordial, she never used measurement and only Nan could make it like that. When pop had vegemite sandwiches there was so much vegemite it was black. :)

July 4, 2014

This is to let visitors know that the following items are available for viewing in the Video Gallery:

80th Birthday - a collection of 3 short videos captured at Greensborough RSL when family and friends gathered to help Gloria celebrate her 80th birthday.

Life in Pictures - a slideshow that was produced by Kirstie Harrison and included as part of Gloria's funeral service.

Special times....

June 10, 2014

I had the pleasure of attending quite a few of Aunty Gloria's birthdays over the years and I would have to say, her 80th was certainly a special one for me.

On this particular occasion, both Sally and I were in Melbourne and on the night, I set out to capture as much of the celebration as I could as an audio recording while Sally wandered around taking photo's of family and friends enjoying the evening.

I was probably a nuisance on the night wandering around with my recorder, but it was certainly worth the effort as they bring a smile to my face now when I listen to all the activity and chatter that occurred during the evening.

I think they are all special moments in time so I have combined some of the highlights from the evening into a 10-minute recording called 'Gloria's 80th Birthday' which is available in the Audio Gallery and includes 'Cake & Candles', 'Speeches' and 'Present Time'.
