Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Family Member and Friend

On March 29th 2023, God called Gloria Ilene Crawford home. Mom passed gently, peacefully and without pain. She was surrounded by her loved ones until the end.

Mom was always our Anchor in the stormy seas. We are left trying to navigate without her. There are no words to describe the sadness and pain we feel at losing her.

In lieu of Flowers, please consider donations to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.

Her Life

      Gloria Ilene Morgan Crawford
was born on June 30,1941 in Shelton, Washington and died, surrounded by the love of family and friends, on March 29, 2023 in Poulsbo, Washington.

Gloria was the youngest child in a family of
four children born to Bill and Ruby Morgan.  She was always proud of her family’s long and colorful history in the Puget Sound Area.  She was also proud of her heritage as a member of the Snohomish Native American Tribe.

She and her husband of 62 years, Kenneth Crawford, raised their family of 2 daughters, Kim (Rice) and Kenda (Sjoquist) in Allyn, Washington and subsequently moved to Port Ludlow,Wa,where she and Ken lived for 28 years.

Gloria graduated from Shelton High School and went on to successfully use her many administrative skills in a variety of jobs including her work at Sears, Jorgensen Steel, Bellingham Police Department, SeaLand, Purdy Realty, Allyn Fire Department, and the U.S. Navy.  She retired as a Housing Manager on the U.S. Navy Base/Bangor.

In addition to her work and family life, Gloria found time to volunteer for, and participate in, community activities.  She volunteered for the Children’s Home Society of Washington, the Allyn Community Center and North Mason School District. Gloria worked on many levies and was a active supporter of voting "yes" for education. She was a life-long member of Eastern Star and a past Honor Queen with Job’s Daughters.

An enthusiastic tourist, Gloria was always ready and willing to go traveling. Among the countries she visited are China, Japan, Iceland, Western Europe, Mexico, Canada, Turkey, Panama, Hawaii, and Alaska.  River rafting in the Grand Canyon, zip-lining in Maui, ocean cruises are just some of the many adventures of Gloria.

Gloria was deeply devoted to her family and friends. According to them she was:
*a strong woman who stood up for what   she believed in”
*fearless…she wasn’t afraid of anyone or anything and she if was, she faked it pretty good.”
*a warm, loving and understanding person with a wonderful sense of humor
*someone who brightened our days with witty and hilarious stories”
*talented and beautiful, inside and out.  We had so much fun together"
*a true friend that I admired and was lucky to have in my life”
*so gifted at swapping stories and bantering…“Glo was always quick on the draw, laughing at life like it is”
*known for saying “for heaven sakes” or “oh my”, or “put on some lipstick and get back out there!” And "put your face on, stand up straight, shoulders back!  Now you be proud of who you are!"
*She was always a straight shooter"
*a take-charge person, she could focus her abundant energy and get things done fast.”*a born organizer.  She could pull things together in the most effective and efficient way."
"one of the kindest women I have ever known”.
*a steadfast friend, no matter what.  She gave unconditional friendship”
*truly a special lady"

Gloria is survived by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth Crawford, daughters Kenda (Lee) Sjoquist and Kimi (Jonathan) Rice, granddaughters Lauren Jankunas, Whitney Johnson and Samantha Sjoquist, great grandsons, Asher McDowell and Atticus Medina, niece Peggy Birley, nephews John Peterson, Steve (Butch) Anderson, Kelly Anderson and brother/sister-in-laws Dennis and Alta Crawford.

My Friend Gloria

April 12, 2023
I met Gloria through her daughter Kimi and my sister Robbin Prins. She made me feel welcome as if I were a member of her family from day one. She was so sweet and thoughtful and although I only knew Gloria for a few short years, I was saddened to hear that she had passed. Rest in peace Gloria. Till we meet again.
