Gordon Douglas “Pop” Clegg
Heaven gained another angel when Staff Sergeant Gordon Douglas Clegg of Madison went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 29, 2017. He was born on March 14, 1946 to the late Earl Thomas Clegg, Sr. and Anna Virginia Woodroof. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard Ferdinand Woodroof and Virginia Mae Esperandeau, his parents, a brother Charles Randolph Clegg, and a sister Alicia Dianne Clegg. Gordon is survived by two brothers, William Woodroof and Earl Thomas (Linda) Clegg, Jr, two children William Clegg, Sr. and Melynda Kaario, one adopted daughter Shelby Boughman, five grandchildren Anthony Cole, Savannah Bryant, Layloni Stoneburner, Gordon Bryant, and William Clegg, Jr., one great-granddaughter Holly Bryant, and numerous other relatives and friends. SSGT Clegg served three tours of duty from 1965 - 1976 including during the time of the Vietnam War as a radar operator and repairman. Gordon left behind a legacy of love and the family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Centennial Medical Center for all of the kindness and care they bestowed upon not only Mr. Clegg but also his family. Services will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Madison Funeral Home in Madison, Tennessee; family visitation will begin at 10:00am, public visitation will begin at 11:00am, and military services will begin at 12:00pm.
NOTE: Although one angel went home, one angel was born on June 28, 2018. We believe God and Pop sent him from Heaven itself to help us get through the tough days. Little man - Dominick Hayden Douglas Bryant - is JUST LIKE his great-granddaddy!
