We are heartbroken to announce the sudden loss of Dr. Goshtasb Abtin. Goshtasb was born in Nosrat Abad Yazd, in 1939 to Rashid Namiranian and Katayoun Hirbod. He lost his dad at an early age of 15. Summer times he used to travel to Tehran for work as he saw the potential for better wages and Iran's growth. 

He moved to Tehran permanently at young age of 19, to pursue higher education. His mother, brother and sister joined him later. Goshtasb studied medicine in University of Tehran and then moved to Lar and the Kelardasht as chief medical officer to serve his people. Later he specialized in Radiology graduating from University of Tehran and went on to build his practice in Tehran.

He used his sharp real life acumen and started his own practice as Dr. Abtin Radiology in Satarkhan/Tehran in 1980. He was one of the few Radiologist who had the skills and knowledge to perform ultrasound in the early 1980’s. He would have patients coming to see him from all over the country. He loved his work and made every effort to serve the patients to the best of their interest. He bestowed the same principals on his children. 

He loved reading, history and nature and was so happy to spend summer times with his kids at the shores of Caspian Sea and spent most of his free time in nature. The family migrated initially to Vancouver, Canada in 2002 and later to Los Angeles, California in 2008.

He enjoyed serving his community and did so till the last few months of his visit to mother earth. He truly practiced Homat, Hokht and Havareshta(Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds). He is survived by his wife of 51 years Delnavaz Haghighi, four children Fereidoun, Houman, Farbod and Kathayoun and his 3 grandchildren Autria, Kaveh, Shayaan, and of course more to come.

We are sorrowed by his passing but privileged to be part of his life and know he is smiling down at us. He has built a strong foundation for us and know he will provide a sturdy hand at time of need.
