Once met never forgotten

November 4, 2016

Sister Grace was a great person. I will remember her with love and affection. The funny thing is I really only met her one time in Alberta, Canada when she came to see her good friend, Winnie Hiley. Winnie could not take her out because Winnie’s husband, John was in a wheelchair having had a stroke. Hence I took Grace to Drumheller (the dinosaur area) for the day and we had a meal there. Just that one instance led us to send Christmas greetings each year after that and Grace was always extremely interested in my news update. One other time I saw Grace with Jen in Oregon and at first I don’t think she recognized who I was. She seemed to remain so positive, and mostly I remember her friendly and permanent smile.Thank you for taking such good care of her, and helping her maintain her Christmas communications. You were a wonderful, attentive daughter, to her Jen, and of course you must have been supported by your sweet husband, Eric, also, so “thank you” twice.
May we see you in the Kingome Grace.
Much love, & I know I would speak for Winnie too. xoxoxoxoxo

I will always hold on to my precious memories of my sister, Grace.  As children we did everything together.  But as the older one, she was expected to be the responsible one. Before I started school, she set up the garage as a classroom, and taught me how to read. We explored the local environment – often with poison oak as an outcome. We took our bikes up to the Botanical Gardens and delighted in coasting down the steep slope back. When I was sick with pneumonia, she read me romantic and adventure stories that are still my favorites. As an adult, her life revolved around her wonderful daughters – sometimes enjoying trips with them, and like a typical mother, she worried about them. Grace will be sorely missed by all of us as she is irreplaceable.
