Grace was born December 12, 1931 to the late Stewart and Mattie Gates, also Henry Brown of Meriwether County.   

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Andrew Gates, Willie Andrew Brown, Glen and Cornell Brown and also one sister, Mrs. Betty Scott.  

Grace joined the New Friendship Baptist Church at an early age.  She remained a faithful member until her health decline.  She was united in holy matrimony to the late Green Freeman.  

Grace leaves to cherish the loving memories:  her sisters, Martha Gates Dewberry of Warm Springs, GA, Geraldine McWilliams of Atlanta, GA, Virginia Rosser of Hogansville, GA, Emma Godfrey (Leroy) of Alvaton, GA; her brothers, John Henry Brown, (Louise) of Greenville, GA, Larry Brown of Hogansville, GA, Willie Andrew Reeves (Reba) of Gay, GA; a special niece, Diane Jones of Palmetto, GA; and a host of nieces, cousins, great nieces, nephews and special friends.
