I only met Grant on one occasion, but I was taken aback at the kindness he offered me and the friendly banter. As others have pointed out he was a gentle giant and I expect a terrific friend to those who knew him well. Grant you will be missed by many and your life will not be forgotten. I offer my deepest sympathies to the Hill family.

I am very thankful to have known Grant when he was just a kid and watch him play baseball for a short time. He didn’t say much, but when he did it was worth pausing and listening. Watching he and his brother Brian play baseball in those earlier years with the baseball club was really a fun time. Grant was playing against older competition (which he loved!) and succeeding most moments when in the game. Grants love for competition was obvious, and his heart was on display. His effort and the desire to win attitude was there even in the early years. I have always felt lucky to have been able to watch both Grant and Brian play ball for a portion of their childhood but even more so that our paths crossed. My heart was broken to hear of Grant leaving us so young. I am glad that I will be able to share memories of Grant with Brad, Stacey, Brian and Hunter. Continued love, positive thoughts and prayers for each of you from the Berry family.

Since I went to the other school that is not Alabama (Auburn), he never held that against me. :-)

Grant was always friendly and kind and always went out of his way to talk to me whenever we were at an event. He had a great passion for life and always looking to help others. Brad and Stacey always talked about all the great things Grant was doing. Going to miss the big guy. Rest in peace. Only time I will say this since this is going to hurt, Roll Tide Roll.

Two words come to mind when reading the stories about Grant Hill. Deep Admiration. My thoughts and prayers are dedicated to Grant and his Family.

I regret that I didn't know Grant. I met him briefly once. One thing is clear: He was loved by everyone who knew him and he touched many lives. His loved ones can have the assurance that even though his life on this Earth was short, he made it count. My prayers are with all of Grant's family and friends during this difficult time. May you have peace knowing that he left a legacy, that his life was one that made a difference.

Brad and I have been friends for many years. We worked together from almost the beginning of our careers. As we got older, our conversations were less about work and more about family. Our kids are close on age and we often updated each other on what was going on in their lives. One thing that was evident from these conversations was the love and pride that Brad had for each of his children. I had no doubt that each of them knew how much they were loved. Grant was often the subject of these conversations because he and my son played football against each other on several occasions. I loved hearing about his achievements on the football field and in track. I followed his career and admired how he handled all the success and the occasional setback. It was clear that Grant was an amazing young man. Seeing the love that he had for others and the career path he chose made it clear that he invested himself in others and their welfare. I have no doubt that he impacted many lives and that he was set up to impact many more. It was heartbreaking to hear about the accident. I cannot imagine the grief that the entire family is feeling. You are being lifted up in prayer many times each day. I hope that God’s peace finds each of you.

Having met Grant only once, I can say all there is for me to draw from would be a first impression. Tall, young and strong physically but personable and kind on the inside. Those that have children ache from the heart for Brad, Stacey and the family, but we can rejoice in knowing Grant is now face to face with his Lord and Savior Jesus. Knowing this that "we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed” is more important now than ever as we wait for the trumpet to sound. May The God of all peace bring comfort to the Hill family and the Harford's will continue to pray for peace in the days ahead.

In my honest opinion, you couldn’t meet or make a more genuine friend than Grant Hill. He was so loving and supportive, it is almost indescribable. That support and love that we all got to experience should be cherished forever..

I remember when we went to see “Straight Outta Compton” at The Cobb in Tuscaloosa and it is one of many memories that I will hold dear to my heart forever. All the games we watched, video games we played, and conversations we had will never fade away.

Out of the ton of memories I have with Grant and his family, watching Kobe Bryant’s last game at his apartment was my favorite. What seemed to be a normal day has since become a moment in time that I will never forget.

I have so much to share, but now I just want him to know that he is loved and will never be forgotten. We love you Grant Sanders Hill, forever and always, your buddy, Nicholas Brown.

It is with deep sadness we announce that Grant Sanders Hill has not survived a family hunting accident and went home to be with the Lord. Grant Hill was born January 29, 1995, to Bradley Dean and Stacey Sanders Hill, and was a life-long resident of Huntsville, Alabama. He grew up in Blossomwood where he attended Huntsville Middle and Huntsville High School.

Grant is survived by his parents; brothers, Brian Claude Hill (Leigh Ann) of Pittsburg, IL, and Hunter Dean Hill (fiancé, Bailey Marie Simmons) of Huntsville; grandparents, Gene Wendall and Elizabeth Jane Sanders of Huntsville, and Harold Dean and Phyllis Ann Hill of Marion, IL; nephews/nieces, Claire Ann Hill and Luke William Hill of Pittsburg, IL; uncle, Donald Gene (Terra Lynn) Hill of Creal Springs, IL; cousins, Lauren Nicole Hill, Eli Cayd Hill and Raziel Greyson Hill of Creal Springs IL, and Kyle Frye of Indianapolis, Indiana; uncle, Jeffrey Lee (Erica Ann) Sanders of Ft. Football Career: Grant attended Huntsville High School from 2010-2013 where he was a consensus ESPN, USA TODAY, 24/7, and RIVALS High School Football All-American and twice Alabama All-State Football player. He played in the 2013 Under Armor All-American Football game where he was awarded best offensive lineman. He was recognized by Alabama.com as the All-Decade Alabama High School Football Team. Grant played football offensive line at the University of Alabama from 2013-2015 where he received awards for most improved offensive lineman and received ESPN Pre-Season All-American, and SEC Championship awards. Grant was a technician at his trade and his was the best when he competed at all levels of athletics, always giving credit to those who played around him.

Track and Field Career: Grant was ranked in both the world and nationally as a Track and Field Discus Thrower, setting national records in both USATF, AAU, and multiple age class records. He still owns the Alabama All-Time Discus Record of 203-7 feet established in 2013 when he was Gatorade Alabama Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Grant was a USMILESPLIT and ELITE YOUTH Track and Field All-American for six years.

Academics: Grant was extremely bright and excelled at academics, attaining close to a 4.0 GPA on his graduate college degree. He published several Psychology graduate program research papers on counseling and response therapy for young adults.

Family Life: A gentle giant, standing 6 feet 7 inches, his love for others, compassion for those athletes struggling with mental illness, and willingness to always put himself last was one of a kind. He loved the Lord Jesus Chris with all his heart and used the Bible as a guide of truth. Grant always put himself last and never understood the athletics accolades received during his football and track and field career. He turned down multiple invitations to USATF Olympics Training, IAAF Championships, and Pan American Games to focus on family and his dream of establishing a young adult and athletics counseling center.

Grant had a passion for the outdoors, spending many trips with family at hunting/fishing retreats in Illinois and Arkansas. His favorite activities included cooking (especially BBQ), duck and deer hunting, playing guitar, extensive gun collections, and spending time in the mountains in cold weather. Grant Hill passed doing what he loved best, spending time with his family and being a servant to those around him during outdoor expeditions. He always started a meal with a prayer and always said “I Love You” to those keeping close company with him.

Vision: Grant graduated from University of Alabama in 2021 with a Masters’ Degree in Psychology. He was working toward a PhD in Clinical Psychology with a dream of establishing a counseling center to help gave his testimony to young adults and athletes struggling with depression, addiction, or trauma. His vision and conviction for the counseling center was to provide healing, purpose, and peace for others. His greatest compassion was to help athletes competing at the highest levels, be provided a direction in their lives after a sports career.

Young Adult and Athletic Counseling Center: We are committed to Grant’s dream of a Young Adult and Athletic Counseling Center to help those struggling with mental health and giving purpose to their lives. Grant will be sadly missed by his family, to know him was to love him, he impacted many people, and his legacy and dreams will live on through the Hill Family Foundation. Memorial Funds can be contributed at visitation and a Grant Hill Memorial Fund website page will be established to provide online contributions.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. followed by a 5 p.m. service on Sunday, November 14 at Willowbrook Baptist Church, 7625 Bailey Cove Road, Huntsville, Alabama 35802.

I think he knew at least 1000 cheesy jokes that always made me laugh. He had a heart of love and sunshine that radiated when he was the happiest.  A giant soul of goodness, kindness and selflessness was who Grant was. I will always miss and remember him.

I honestly not sure what to say, Grant was my god brother and a world without him is a dim one. His smile could light up a room, and he always made sure no one felt left out, especially me when I was a kid.
I’ll never forget the day I found out he was signing with Alabama, I told any and everyone that would listen about the accomplishments of my god brother.
