Her Life

My Great-Grandma had (as you'd imagine) very many stories to tell after 93 years on this wonderful planet.  After spending so much time with her, I feel like I've lived her whole life with her.  She often compared her life as a child to the life of my cousins and I.  She talked about how amazing her wedding day was, and how beautiful her 3 children were when they had been born.  She was driving until she was 91, then unfortunately had emergency goal bladder surgery when I was in second grade.  Two years later, at 93, she fell while on the stairs, and injured her head.  Afterwards, she went back-and-forth between her house, the hospital, and a rehab center.  These last four months have been hard on her, and her family.  The other day she was in the hospital, and her doctor came in. She didn't know who he was, so he got close up to her, and listened to her heartbeat.  Randomly, she said: " You know, I feel great because I'm in my polka-dot pants." Her love for polka-dots will always live in all of us.  She is in a better place, with no pain, and is definitely looking down from heaven.
