His Life

From Fanboy to Friend

December 31, 2010

It was a Disney movie packaged in the hopes and dreams of a young, blonde-headed boy that slept atop his trailer every night looking at the stars. He had everything he wanted. His family, his friends, a new laptop to play his games on... and it all ended too soon.

Gregory Elliott was born on January 8th, 1992 at approximately 4:55 in the morning. It was a windy morning, but just as the sun rose above the hills, Greg's small head came crowning out of his mothers womb. His eyes were lit up just like the sun, and that smiling, sunny attitude he continued to carry throughout his life. Wherever little Greg went, people would refer to him as the "sunshine boy" for his positive attitude and blinding blonde hair. But he never minded. He loved being known for his positive attitude. All seniors and kids that were priveleged enough to experienced him at some point all referred to him as an absolute joy.

He lived in Nelson his entire life, gaining the loves and hearts of every person he came into contact with. But Gregs positivity lessened after the divorce of his parents, and he was forced to share his love between them. But these were the times that tried his soul, and he became a better person in the end. He may not have smiled as much, but he was still the sunshine boy in all of our hearts. It was heart breaking to see him go through that. We all saw him come out on top though.

During this time Greg started to spend more time on the computer, and less time hanging out with his friends. He stopped going to high school and began taking classes online. He wanted to spend more time alone working on his studies. His once social attire was now worn and ragged, and he cloaked himself under a shell of insecurity and shyness. But we all knew him for what he really was, a bright young man with a positive future if he just lifted his head up. But none of us were able to get close to him again...

It was at this time he met his online friends. One particular person he noted online was Roman Petrov, the mad russian. It was this man who I think started changing Greg (who at this time had taken the online moniker, "Horuku") for the better, back more into the man he once was. He experienced so many things online with his new friends. Bitter rivalries, crazy adventures, and overall just fun times. We were never able to communicate with any of them, though. I figure they're taking this loss just as hard as the rest of us.

Now that his life had finally began to take a turn for the better, tragedy surely would strike. On December 31st, 2010, Gregory was walking to the local library to rent some books for his father who was at the time currently being treated for heart disease and was bed-ridden. He wasn't looking both ways, and went to cross the street to get to the library. At 1:30 PM, he was struck in the side by a red chevy suburban. The people inside rushed outside to try and save him, but by the time the ambulance got there it was too late. He was pronounced dead at approx. 2:10 PM.

We'll always remember you, sunshine boy. For the good times you brought us, even sometimes the bad. The memories you and I shared were some of the craziest and funnest times of my entire life. I love you, and I miss you. One day we'll finally be reunited. I look forward to it, old friend. :)
