Gregg Chandler Josey died Saturday July 29, 2023 in Birmingham, AL at the age of 64 with his friends and family by his side
Gregg is survived by his daughter, Caroline Josey, and his brother, Mark Josey. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chandler and Amy Josey, and his brother, Rhett Josey.
Gregg was born February 3, 1959, in New York, NY, Gregg was raised in Mountain Brook, AL and graduated from Mountain Brook High School and University of Alabama. After college, Gregg moved to Miami, FL to work in finance. In Miami, Gregg met and married Barbara McCauley. Together they welcomed one daughter, Caroline, into their home.
Gregg will be remembered as a fun and loving father, a caring brother and husband, a generous friend, and a big-hearted individual. Gregg opened his heart and home to many people and animals, and shared experiences with friends from across the globe.
Gregg was passionate about food, both trying new recipes at home and dining out, he often indulged in a pimento cheese sandwich with grape jelly. He consumed content and loved new experiences and will be remembered for his curiosity about the world. Growing up the oldest of three brothers, he loved a good prank – whether playing with his little brothers or watching the Three Stooges. He volunteered at the humane society and was a foster to many dogs. While Gregg lived many places, he always called Birmingham home and it brings comfort to know that he returned home at the end of his life. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all that knew him, but he is now reunited with his mom, dad, brother, and his many dogs.
To honor his love of animals, please donate to your local humane society – over $1,000 has been raised in Gregg’s name thus far.
