His Life
October 1, 2021
Grover (Jack) C Collins was born July 15th, 1963, to his proud parents Laura Ann (Irons) Collins and Roosevelt Collins Senior. Jack attended and graduated from Hughes High School. Jack was baptized at an early age.  He knew God from the beginning of his precious life, and this was implemented from his mother.
Jack re-dedicated his life to Christ by profession of his faith in God a few weeks ago with his dear friend Ronald Hicks. He confessed his belief that God is Lord and Savior, died on the cross for his sins, and he rose from grave, and Jack was saved. Thanks to his friend Ronald for the love and dedication and the friendship he and Jack shared.
When Jack met Stephanie, he said "what’s up little lady."  The love story started from there and Jack married Stephanie (Gaines) Collins on Saturday, July 12, 2008. Through their union together there were four children: Jacolby Cunningham & Jahari Jones-Collins from Jack, and LaGena Montgomery & Kelvin Gaines from Stephanie. In addition, they share a special Goddaughter, Mia Holt.
Jack was a devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle. He loved his family dearly. Jack also loved sports!  He was known as “coach Jack.”  This was his passion!  His eyes and demeanor were excited every time he coached, talked about or watch anything about sports.  We will miss him and his loud voice saying things like “he's garbage or bet that or what's shakin bacon or where my money at.” Jack had nicknames for all his family members, which was the sweetest endearment, and his family knew he was “Uncle Jack” or “PawPaw.”
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Roosevelt and Laura Collins, in addition to his brothers Traveler Collins and Terry Collins.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Stephanie (Gaines) Collins; five children, Jacolby Cunningham, Jahari Jones Collins, LaGena (Jesse) Montgomery, Kelvin Gaines and God daughter Mia Holt; one brother, Roosevelt (Curly) Collins (Angie); three Sisters, Rosie (Princess) Collins-Williams (Edward), Nicole Hudson (Rayshawn Sr.), and a Special Sister Gwendolyn Fears; one uncle, Curtis Irons; four loving nephews, Stephen Phillips, Roosevelt Collins jr., Kaywonn Collins, and Rayshawn Hudson Jr; two beautiful nieces, Laura (Mrs. Ann) Collins (James) and Vashti Hudson; five grandchildren, Riniyah, Layla, Jacolby Jr, Rikiyah, and Morgan. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of aunts, uncles, great-nephews and nieces, cousins and Friends.
2 Chronicles 7:14
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
This is God's word family and friends. Much love and peace be with you all!
