My deepest sympathy to the Hicks family. I worked with Gwen at Roses in Durham many years ago. She was a beautiful lady inside and out and always had a smile for everyone she met. God be with you all during this difficult time.

Fond memories

My heart just breaks for the entire Hicks Family. They have always been a very close knit family and I know this will forever change them. I pray that God brings them comfort and peace during this time of grief. I will never forget how good Gwen was to us when we were children at First Advent Christian Church. -Tony Harris Jr.

Learn, lead, and live love

February 12, 2019

Like Debra says, there are just so many stories about Gwen, but let me tell the One I love best. Gwen and the family lived next to Ruby Wallace Rich. When they were small, she carried Joe and Linda’s children to First Advent Christian Church to meet the members and Jesu. It took a while but over the years the children convinced their parents to join us. Then the Lord went to work on them, undoubtedly due to the kid’s prayers. Joe and Linda became out clean-up team, children delivery service, Bible School mentors, Camp Dixie reps, evangelism committee, and Sunday School teachers. I wrote my first “A” thesis on Silas Marner entititled “...and a child shall lead them.” Joe , in the end, became and still is, my pastor! I have had and love many, but Joe HICKS stands far above any of them. Thank you Gwen HICKS,  for answering the invite of Ruby Wallace Rich and leading your family to the service of Jesus!
