In 1963, she married Evie Phelps and together they shared a beautiful life. They moved to Dayton, Ohio, in 1972, where Gwendolyn started her career at Elder Berman department store in downtown Dayton. In 1974, she joined the Dayton police department, where she served with unwavering commitment until her retirement in 2000.

Gwendolyn had a few simple joys that brought her immense happiness. She relished indulging in seafood and found comfort in watching Judge Judy and cowboy movies.

She leaves behind cherished memories with her brotherĀ  Keith Walker, as well as her beloved sons, Kevin and Demone. Gwendolyn's daughter-in-law, Cindy, shared a special bond with her, adding joy to her life.

Her legacy is carried on by her adoring grandchildren, Braxton, Joshua, Wynton, Whitney, Courtney, and Rance. Gwendolyn was blessed with the love of her great-grandchildren, River, Rane Tokyo, and Wynter, who brought joy to her heart.
