In Memoriam: Mrs. Hadiyah I. Abdullah
It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Hadiyah I. Abdullah, who departed this world on December 1, 2023, in Dayton, Ohio. Hadiyah, the second oldest of five children, was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonia and Anna Lee Green Zackery, Alma (William) Green Cranford Wooten, her brother Benjamin Zackery, and her sister Joyce (Carl) Ogletree. She is now reunited with her devoted husband of 49 years, Ahmed El Abdullah and son, Angelo Avery.
Born to the late Alphonia and Anna Lee (Green) Zackery on February 4, 1943, Hadiyah leaves behind her surviving family: brother Alphonso (Butch) (Brenda) Zackery, sister Kathy Zackery Starks, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins.Hadiyah was a loving and nurturing mother to her children: Carlo Avery, Sheba (Ibikunle) Ogedengbe, Khalid (Dana) Joshua, Faaizah Awoshakin, Gerry Watkins, and Juahara Kniess. Her legacy extends through her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends Paula Olszewski and Carmen Villegas-Jones and the many lives she touched. In partnership with her late husband Ahmed, Hadiyah exemplified an entrepreneurial spirit, successfully managing various businesses, including a cleaning service, janitorial service, seamstress business, and the renowned Oasis Gourmet Foods. Widely recognized by ambassadors from numerous nations, she specialized in crafting recipes from 36 different Countries.
Hadiyah’s life was a testament to strength, wisdom, and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth and kind spirit will be missed, but the memories of her love and guidance will be cherished forever.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hadiyah I. Abdullah will be held on December 18, 2023, at W.E. Lusain Funeral Home 2455 Stanley Ave, Dayton OH. 45404. Hadiyah will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery along with her late husband Ahmed. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to bring comfort and solace to those who mourn her passing.
