I first met Uncle and Aunty back in the mid 80s when Ashok and I moved to the Richmond area
Uncle always had a nice smile and welcomed Ashok and myself into their home.
He was so proud of his family and it was a pleasure to talk to him at Ugadi and other events.
My deepest condolences on your loss and may you be comforted by your dear memories and good times

Hanumaiah was a thorough gentleman and proud father. He showed what hard work and honesty can achieve and should be light for others to follow. He will be missed in the Richmond community . We wish his family strength and our prayers are with them, to bear this loss. May his soul rest in peace.
Prakash And Uma Ettigi.

His Life
April 3, 2019

Mr. Hanumaiah A. Gowda, 86, of Nagaroor, Karnataka,  passed away peacefully in his adopted home of Richmond, Virginia on April 2nd, 2019 at 1:00pm.

Mr. Gowda was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years Radhamma Gowda;and his parents and brothers in India.

Mr. & Mrs. Gowda represent the quintessential immigrant story of Indians who started life with roots in villages, established themselves in India, but then chose to uproot and come to the USA to build a strong foundation for their descendants' future with grit and hard work.  Trained and educated as an engineer, Mr. Gowda became an entrepreneur and successful business owner in the US.  While family was his devotion and focus, he also enjoyed gardening, spectator tennis, and reading about science and nature.

He leaves behind 4 children  Suresh and daughter-in-law Veena; Manjula and son-in-law Ranganath; Sunitha and son-in-law Adithya; and Mayura and son-in-law Geoffrey; and the pride of his life 8 beautiful grand-children : Harsha and his wife Anita, Vinodhini , Bindu , Ajay , Shashi , Renuka , Dharini , and Anand .

He is beloved by all in his family, friends, and as an elder in the Richmond Asian Indian community.  He leaves a legacy of leadership, strength, and moral fortitude that will mark generations to come.
