The Basics

July 17, 2014

Harold "Bob" Patchett, Jr, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 15, 2014, at home in El Cajon, CA.  He was 74 years young. He was born in 1939 in San Diego, CA, to Harold and Jeannette Patchett.

Bob grew up in El Cajon, CA, and graduated from El Cajon Valley High School where he was very involved in the DeMolay Club.

Bob taught computer and information systems classes at Grossmont, Cuyamaca, and numerous other community colleges in and around southern California for many years.

Bob was involved with baseball his entire life.  His father “Hal” played for the Pacific Coast League Padres for many years, and Bob coached his kids’ Little League baseball and Bobby Sox softball teams, umpired at many amateur and semi-professional levels of baseball and softball, loved rooting for his hometown Padres (even in the years they didn’t play well), and was always ready to talk about any aspect of baseball.  He also enjoyed playing, refereeing, and watching hockey for almost as long as he was involved with baseball.  He was regularly seen watching the San Diego Gulls play on home ice.

Bob married Janet in 1998 in El Cajon, CA.  They were happily married for 16 years.  Bob was actively involved with the Prime Time Sunday School Class at Sunrise Community Church in Santee, CA.

Bob is survived by his wife Jan of El Cajon, CA; his first wife, Mary Lou Hull of Coeur d’Alene, ID, their son Kevin (Elizabeth) of Reno, NV, and their daughter Kathlene of Coeur d’Alene, ID; his sister Terri Padgett of Camarillo, CA; his grandchildren Chasity Foster, Tiffany Montgomery, and Cortney Patchett; his great-grandchildren Tristan, Elora, Liam, Mathew, Aidan, and Gavin; and his nieces Mindy, Jody, and Marci and nephew Joel.  Great-granddaughter Felina is scheduled to be delivered later this year on what would have been his 75th birthday.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Harold and mother Jeannette.
