1938--Born in a German colony in Russia. The area is now the Republic of Moldova.
1945 through 1951--After World War II, Harold and his family were refugees. They settled in Murrhardt, West Germany in 1951.
1952 through 1958--Harold moved to Stuttgart at age 14 to become an apprentice in electro-mechanical work and prepare for engineering school
1958 through 1961--Attended and graduated from Staatlichen Ingenieurschule Karlsruhe (engineering school)
1961 through 1964--Worked at Telefunken as a graduate engineer for development in manganese--zinc-ferrites, and at the German National Telephone & Telegraph Company in Stuttgart in telephone cables projection and design
1964 through 1968--Worked at Brown Boveri & CIE in Mannheim as an electro-mechanical process engineer
1965--Married Maria Helene (Marlene)
1966--Birth of son, Harry
April 1968--Immigrated to New York and moved to Massachusetts (Waltham). Worked at Honeywell as an electro-mechanical process engineer/manufacturing engineer
June 1968--Marlene and Harry joined him in Massachusetts
1970--Birth of daughter, Claudia
1971-- Moved to Bloomington, Minnesota. Worked at Arvin Magnetics as a manufacturing engineer
1972--Moved to Torrance, California. Worked at Data Magnetics (newly-acquired subsidiary of Arvin Magnetics)
1973--Moved to Encinitas, California. Worked at Spin Physics (subsidiary of Kodak) as a manufacturing engineer, magnetic head division.
1994--Retired
1994 through 2013--Traveled extensively. Highlights include:
* Explored United States with motorhome, visiting 48 states
* Enjoyed cruises to South America, Panama Canal, Mediterranean, Australia and Asia. Visited Great Wall of China and Machu Picchu. Harold and Marlene enjoyed 25 cruises together.
* Spent 4 weeks in India in 2001
2004--Symptoms of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) first became apparent
January 2006--Diagnosed with ALS
2006 - 2014--Continued to travel extensively and enjoyed life to the fullest with family and friends
