His Life
January 31, 2013

Harper Ward was a man who would always put a smile on anyones face he was around.Always quick to tell a joke or say something to make you laugh,he took great pride at treating everyone equal and would spend the day trying to make your day alittle bit better. He was a man with a Heart of gold and would help anyone out out if they were in need. Harper always took care of his friends/family and  sometimes the odd stranger. If you were hungry and Harper knew it wouldnt be long before he would show up at your home with his home grown vegetables from his garden or a dozen eggs from his farm.
Harper also loved his family dearly. He was the father to 8 children (5 girls & 3 boys) who were his life. He went above and beyond to provide for them and had a relationship with his children that he would cherish for life and loved each and everyone of them equally. Another big part of Harper's life was his 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He loved his grandkids like no other  he was there for each and everyone one of them in a drop of a hat. His fondest memories were the moments he spent with them. From telling them stories to taking them for bike rides to always having sticks of gum or chocolate milk in the fridge to give them alittle treat he loved spending time with all of his grandkids and loved them with all his heart .Grampy had many friends in his life. His easygoing friendly nature attracted him a group of friends that ment the world to him.Everyone loved to visit Harper to talk, reminisce about the past or just sit and listen to him play his "Fiddle." His circle of friends was something he held close to his heart and he touched each and everyone of there hearts. He was a true friend who anyone could count on as he always put the feelings of others before his own. I think his goal in life was to just make sure each and every person he knew was healthly, well and happy.

Harper also was a very hard worker. He use to bike 2 to 3 hours each day to work in the late 60s early 70s from his home in Middle River NB to Brunswick Mines. Although a very long and tiring drive both ways each day Harper never missed a shift. Some people would ask Harper how could you bike so far everyday?? He would just simply reply... A persons got to eat. Later on Harper would work at a local mill then at a Middle School as a custodian. The students loved him. He would always have a smile from ear to ear and say hello to the students /staff and other facility. He was also loved by his co-workers. He would often have advise to co-workers who were struggling or down on there luck. He would say just give it time stick it out it will be fine next week and they all seemed to listen to Harper and loved him for sticking by them.

Harper also loved music. A great  violin and harmonica player he would often entertain at family partys, social get togethers among his friends or just play a tune for some of his grandchildren. He often preformed at a Old age home in his home town of Bathurst NB for seniors around Thanksgiving and Christmas. He would always be willing to entertain the elderly who loved his style of music. Some of his favorite songs to play were oldies like rubber dolly or the st anne's reel which young and old would be tapping there feet to.And if he wasnt playing you could always hear him whistling a tune or singing. Many times myself personally would hear him whistling the St Anne's Reel or singing "Theres a blue bird on my windowsill"

In Closing Harper Ward was one of the sweetest kindest most down to earth man i ever could have the pleasure of knowing. Not only did he take care of me threw out my childhood but he always made time for me no matter what the circumstances were. Simple things like watching a wrestling match to letting me help him in the garden were the greatest moments of my life. To his children he was the greatest dad in the world,to his grandchildren he was the greatest grandfather we could of ever asked for, to his friends he was the greatest friend you could ever have and now in heaven he is the greatest angel up there. I Love you Pepere xox
