His Life
July 17, 2014

He was born on August 11, 1924 to late John Wesley and Annie Harps Slaton in Woodbury, Georgia.  He was the oldest of nine children.  Two siblings preceded him in death, Gracie Slaton Holt and Willie "Baby Ray" Slaton.  Harrison also had one son, Robert Lewis Slaton to precede him in death.

He spent part of his working career with Steven Graphics in Atlanta, Georgia; he later retired in 1989 after fifteen years of service.  Junior, as he was affectionately known, proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was united in holy matrimony to Cornelia Taylor Slaton, who preceded him in death in 1977.  In this union, three children were born, two of which preceded him in death.  Junior and Cornelia shared 35 years of pure marital bliss.  Years later, Junior married Aslena Slaton, who preceded him in death, as well as, Ella B. Slaton, who also preceded him in death.

Junior is survived by one child, Vernice Slaton; one grandchild, Lydia Slaton; one great-grandchild, Dequarius Slaton, all of Woodbury, GA; three brothers, Jasper (Mary) Slaton of Columbus, GA, John Wesley Slaton, Jr. of College Park, GA, and Bobby Slaton of Jeffersonville, GA; three sisters, Annie (Wallace) Berry of Atlanta, GA, Jennette Middlebrooks of College Park, GA, and Mary Benning of Woodbury, GA;  a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
