On January 25, 2022, Harry Roland Marvin peacefully went to heaven to join his parents, sister and 2 of his children, Christine and Buddy. He was just 3 days shy of his 91st birthday.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Valerie Marvin and his son, Russell Marvin Sr. and his wife Regina. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Russell Marvin Jr. and his partner Amanda, and Melinda Lobby and her partner Will. His pride and joy, also surviving are his great grandchildren, Dakota, Victoria, Mason, Monroe, Bri and Lexi.
Harry served as a Sergeant in the US Army in the 278th Tank Company. He continued serving our country in the reserves for 8 years and earned a National Defense Service Medal for serving during a time of conflict.
As a civilian, Harry became a husband and father of 3 children whom he cherished. He loved to tinker with things and was a mechanic for Texaco for many years before opening his own mechanic shop at his home.
He lived on farmland passed down from his parents, and loved riding his tractor around his home and land. In his older years, you could find Harry sitting in a chair by the road or on his porch swing watching the cars go by and being the neighborhood mayor, always keeping an eye on what was going on and who was doing what!
He loved feeding the birds and watching the world out his bay window from his favorite chair. When he wasn't in that chair, you could find him in his comfy recliner wearing his favorite flannel shirt and catching an Eagles football game on tv.
He was a highly intelligent man who had a little bit of knowledge about everything and was the world's best storyteller.
The loss of Harry leaves a huge void for all of his family and friends and we invite you to celebrate his life with us on Friday, February 4th at FERTIG FUNERAL HOME, 63 North Main Street, Mullica Hill, NJ 08062 from 11am-1pm, where a eulogy will be offered at 1pm. Interment will be private at a later date.
