Why can't I forget this one? It was the year 1971and the whole household was excited as Daddy had gone into Kingston to purchase a new car....he told me it would be a Dodge Avenger. I was thrilled but was even more thrilled when at night he arrived and there before our eyes was a shiny new Sunbeam Hunter (he had changed his mind at the dealership). It was quite a lovely car and no one else in town had one. I remember with pride how I showed my friends at school and church this fabulous car and also saw the joy on my father's face that he had managed to purchase a new car. I learnt later that it cost him a whopping J$2000!
That car remained in the family until about 1985 when he sold it and bought a car that Janice had been driving from her office.
