This was part of something that I had written for Heather. Maybe it will be appreciated here best....
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you
Deep peace of the gentle night to you
Deep peace of the shining stars to you
Deep peace of the light of the world to you

My second Mum
I can still remember the first time that I ever met Heather. Stephanie and I were on our way to pick her up from work. Me being the shy person that I am, I really didnt say much. On the car ride home we all had decided to have a BBQ. We stopped at the grocery store to pick some things up. After we were done shopping we headed home. When we got into the driveway, Heather looked behind to where I was sitting. I had all the steaks that we bought on my lap. She said "ohhhhh Kevins packin' the meat." My jaw just dropped. Its funny that it was this comment that really broke the ice between us. I knew here on out we would get along just fine.
For those of you that know me. You should know that I love candy. Heather knowing this, told me of a store in town that sold the good stuff. Heather, Stephanie and I went to this store and Heather told me to get the salted black licorice. I hate black licorice, but she was pretty excited for me to try some. So I did buy some. In the parking lot I put some in my mouth as she wanted to see my reaction. I had to fake liking it. As soon as she looked away I spit it out and still began chewing like I had it in my mouth. I had to tell her she was right, it was delicious...it seemed to make her happy.
I would have to say that the most memorable moment was our trip to the Allen family reunion. I have to say that it was quite a journey to get there. Aparrently all three of us are horrible with directions. What was suppose to be a quick 1 hr drive from our hotel room to Rowley, turned out to be about 4 hrs. Heather told me to turn down this road, pavement quickly turned to gravel roads. We kept driving down this road for about 1 hour and ended up on someones property. As I was backing out of this driveway a man emerged from his garage with a torn up shirt, bloody nose and holding an axe. It looked like something out of a horror movie. We were out of there pretty fast. From there we continued down another dirt road and yet ended up on another persons property. To avoid another situation like the last we quickly got out of there. Not long after we noticed a truck following us from behind. Every turn we took he took. This went on for some time and the truck sped up beside us. We were scared out of our minds. Turns out it was a nice man who finally gave us the right directions to Rowley. We had many laughs that day and it will be a time I will never forget. I had never seen Heater so happy before than the time at the family reunion. Great times.
These are just some of the great memories I have with Heather. You will be missed.
