GALLO, Helen M. (Fiederowicz) Helen M. (Fiederowicz) Gallo, 82, of East Hartford, loving wife of Salvatore A. Gallo, passed to her Glory surrounded by her entire loving family on Tuesday, (February 24, 2004) at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in Hartford, she had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 50 years. Prior to her retirement she worked at C & W Mfg. Company, Glastonbury. She was also the co-founder and operator of Gallo's Appliance, New Haven and the former Charter Oak Restaurant, Manchester. She was a communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford and an individual who enjoyed cooking and taking care of her loving family. Helen was predeceased by a son, Salvatore A. Gallo, Jr. of Manchester and a grandson, Anthony S. Gallo of Coventry. Besides her beloved husband of 61 years, Mrs. Gallo is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Nancy Gallo of Cape Coral, FL; three daughters, Tina DeCarli and her husband, Eugene Jr., of Stafford Springs, Darlene Curtin and her companion, Steve Lintner of Simsbury, Marie Garabedian and her husband, Keith of East Hartford; two brothers; three sisters, including her special dear friend, Sophie Cancelmo of East Hartford; 11 grandchildren, including Steven and Tammy Saretsky of South Bend, IN, Angela Gallo and Thomas Abate of Columbia, SC, Ali and Ryan Gilman of Stafford Springs, Kristen and Alan Coxon of Simsbury, Jason Curtin of Brandon, FL, Ginamarie Garabedian of East Hartford, Joseph Garabedian of East Hartford; six great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ryleigh Gilman of Stafford Springs, Michael and Michele Saretsky of South Bend, IN, Emily Curtin of Brandon, FL; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral service will be Friday, February 27, at 9 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will be at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home TODAY from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Helen's name may be made to the Anthony S. Gallo Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund, c/o East Catholic High School, 115 New State Road, Manchester, CT 06040-1898 or to the St. Christopher School Science & Technology Fund, 570 Brewer Street, East Hartford, CT 06118.
