My soul is bereaved of its loss. I walk into our bedroom and I can no longer smell the fragrance of you. My heart aches.

I glance out the window and see leaves spinning, circling upwards and dancing in the wind.

It is then I feel the presence of you.

Part of Me

At hospice, I pull the window drapes open. The sun's rays descend
upon her. I look at her lusterless eyes and frail smile.

I kiss her. I whisper into her ear, 'my love'.

And then she's gone, her spirit ascending the sun's rays,
taking a part of me with her.

The Warmth of Love

I stoke the fire in the wood stove to temper the morning chill. Steeped in loneliness, I take refuse in the treasured memories of  you.

On the wall, hangs your radiant portrait. My heart is comforted.

The warmth of your smile manifests a spiritual love that dispels the morning chill.

Cleansing Rain

The sun hides behind the dark clouds as they begin to weep.
The drops fall and I am awash in my loneliness. My thoughts
of you, dancing in the rain comforts me.

You loved the rain. "It cleanses the air," you had said.
Those words touch my heart, cleansing my soul.
