Her Life

Helen Ross Reese was born April 8, 1926, in West Point, Georgia and departed this life on May 7, 2013.  Her parents were Levi and Mollie Ross. She was a member of a very large family all of whom preceded her in death.

She confessed her Faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Emanuel Chapel C. M. E. Church where she held several positions throughout the years.  She served as Trustee, Stewardess, Church Treasurer, Missionary Secretary and other positions

She was a product of the West Point Public School System and a graduate of Tenth Street School.

Helen was joined in marriage to Crowder Reese and to this union three children were born.

 She worked for many years for the West Point Pepperell Corporation. Following her retirement she served as a daycare aide at the Virginia Cook Child Care Center. Helen was a nice, sweet and humble person. She was a loving wife and a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life centered around her family and her religious orientation. She was warm, sensitive, and kind.

Mrs. Reese was preceded in death by her husband, Crowder, a daughter, Evelyn and a son, Bernard. 

She leaves to cherish her memory: two devoted daughters Carolyn (Waymon) Cumberlander, Lanett, AL; Theresa (Stanley) Davis, Athens, AL; three loving grandchildren, Deirdre Davis Brown, Houston, TX; Derrick (Tamara) Cumberlander, Harvest, AL; Sheree Cumberlander, Hendersonville, TN; She had  four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Kelsey Brown, Houston, TX; Derrick II and Bryson, Harvest, AL . In addition to family she has two very special friends Marla and Jordan Weston, West Point, GA; two nephews, Jerry Ross and Hope Tigner, Atlanta, GA and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family members.
