Her Life

Our Mom

February 1, 2016

As I sit here I think about the woman behind the ever deserving title of Mom. She dedicated herself to us three kids  so much that I suppose I sometimes forgot to ask who she was before her babies came along.  Before little clothes and lots of worries toy filled spaces an scraped elbows and knees. I know where she came from, and who her parents and siblings are. A long tine resident of Charleston, shed left many times and always came back because as shed said "this is home". Im the youngest of three and from what Ive heard a few times over I look like my mommy but I see her in the quiet solid strength of my sister and in my brothers worry filled blue eyes. I know growing up as Susie wasnt by any standards easy and her later years wasnt much different but I never heard her complain. She did what ever she must and thats all there was to it. Many hear much about her heart, a heart of gold and thats no exaggeration. She was quick to smile at a stranger didnt think twice about helping anyone who asked or who looked as if they needed help or a kind word or just to be heard. My sister told me a few days ago something I never knew,my mom always wanted to take a trip by train. The chance never came but it made me wonder what else in life would she have liked to do,what else had she declined to do for one reason or another,us kids or her being sick or her taking care of this or that. I can only in my heart believe she got her train ticket.
