His Life
August 30, 2016

In the middle of the spring season on May, 21, 1940, a baby boy was born to the union of the late Calvin and Mildred Addie. He was the first son and they named him Henry Gene Addie better known to family and friends as “PoGo.”

As a child, Henry attended the Meriwether County School System. At an early age, he grew up in and joined Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

If there was a magician in the family by choice, it would have to be Henry. He could look you straight in the eye and at the same time frighten you with his magic, tricks and jokes.

As an adult, Henry spent most of his time performing services related to logging, agriculture and farming. He took great pride in planting and nurturing various fruits and vegetables but he took greater pleasure in plucking and pulling them up once they reached a point where they could be consumed and/or sold.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ollie Mae Addie-Hines and three brothers, Marvin, Charlie Robert and Charlie Milton. He leaves to mourn his precious memories three loving and devoted sisters, Virginia, Mabel and Katie Addie; one aunt, Mary L. Reeves; many nieces and nephews just like his very own children and a host of other relatives and cousins.
