His Life
January 31, 2014

The spirit of the Lord led him to Mt. Zion 2nd Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia where he was baptized and served as a member. Continuing to work in the vineyard, Herbert also attended Eagle’s Nest Ministry frequently. Herbert is a 1966 graduate of David T. Howard High School in Atlanta, Georgia. He was employed by Mead Incorporation, Greenville, Georgia until his health failed him.

Herbert loved living, yet he prepared daily for his earthly departure.  He instilled in his family to always respect your elders. His nieces and nephews, no matter how old, knew to call him “Uncle Deek.” Moreover, he demanded them to hide the love of God in their hearts. Daily, he read his bible and humbled himself in prayer. One of his most precious memories will be forever remembered. He always said, “No matter how weak my knees get, I get down on my knees every night and pray to my master for my health and strength.”  Herbert was always happy and never allowed a dull moment in his presence.  He loved coming home to Woodland and made sure that he walked to visit lifelong friends and family members.  He always stated that he loved to walk the streets of Woodland because it brought back so many childhood memories.

Herbert was united in holy matrimony to Doris W. Barron and from this union they nurtured two children:  Tellis A. Barron and Herbert James Barron Jr. and seven grandchildren: TyShawn, Telisha, Kahron, Javon, Dymond, La’Daysia & Desiya Barron.  Hebert is also survived by five siblings: Eva Mae (Paul) Wright, Charlene (George) Giddens, Betty Ruth (Leon) Williams, Rickey (Crystal) Barron, Brenda (Ernest) Palmer, & Danny (Ruth) Barron and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
