You will always be my Sunshine PaPa - You became Travis' best buddy. I will always remember our Friday evenings spent visiting you and Grandma. Both of my favorite boys ( you and Trav) would have your rootbeer floats. wonderful memories and time I wish we had back.

I love you and can't wait to receive a hug from you again!

See you soon.

I still see that sweet sweet smile in my mind. I still hear you telling me I need the to study history in order to better understand the Word of God. :-) Your influence will always be with us & the love of God that you showed us will be forever cherished. Your 2nd year with the Lord. Lucky you.

I hope I will never forget the sound of his voice. A year seems like such a long time, but it's cool to know that time is not a factor where he is. I sometimes wish I could just have a glimpse to see how happy they are. Someday I'll see. Love you Daddy..

This would always make me laugh, I would purposely pretend I was going to pick his roses just to hear and see his reaction, and he would put a lot of drama in to it " Don't you pick my roses!" just to try and scare me, and then he would let out the sweetest big smile....Miss you Papa

I remember many fond things about Grandpa and Grandma Goodrick, but specifically how Grandpa always treated Grandma so gently and kindly. He always helped in the kitchen and did such a great job! His pancakes were the best and that pancake and jam morning breakfast was so wonderful. He served the Lord and it showed in his daily demeanor. We will see him again in Heaven and that's a comfort.

Love was truly his character. We rejoice that he finished his race & we are blessed to know where he made his eternal home. I love the picture where he is singing to sweet baby Emma.  We know the song he was singing, and she was loving it just as we all did. He was my mentor, my protector, and the best Dad anyone could have. We will miss him. Thanks Misty for this beautiful memory.

A Good Life

February 11, 2011

I always enjoyed hearing Grandpa's stories about all the different things he'd done in life like his adventures with his friend Mark, sleeping in jails as he was traveling cross country during the depression, working at Yellowstone, working for the railroad, etc.

One evening a couple of months ago he and I were visiting.  I was getting a few more details on a couple of the stories he'd told me.  Then, for a few minutes he was quiet and didn't say anything.  We just sat there watching O'Reilly.  Then he looked at me and said, "You know... I've lived a good life."

Now, if you knew Grandpa then you know how uncharacteristic it was for him to talk about himself like that.  But if you knew Grandpa, then you'd also know he was right... and that to say he'd lived a "good life" is probably one of the biggest understatements of all time.  So, it was all I could do to choke back that lump in my throat and say, "Yes Grandpa...you certainly have."  They were just a few words from him in that moment but they were some of the most profound words I've ever heard anyone say...words I'll never forget...and words, when the time time comes, I hope I can say with that same certainty.

The best hugs

February 10, 2011

My Pa Pa gave the best hugs, hands down, ever. It didn't matter how frail he became, his arms held a wealth of strength in them  because they were filled with his love.

True strength comes from the love you find within. His true strength was evident in everything he did. His sweet smile, his care for family and friends, his love for God; all of this made him one of the strongest men I have ever met. It's the reason why his hugs were so strong, because the strength that was in his arms came from the love that was deep in his heart.

He enriched the lives of so many, but I think the strength of his hug remains in the memory of anyone who was blessed enough to be embraced by him.

You Are My Sunshine

I think all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren know that song by heart. No one could sing it better than him :)
