His Life

Mr. Brooks was born in LaGrange, Georgia on October 3, 1942, the son of the late Frances Louise Smith Brooks and Olin Hammett Brooks. After high school he served his country honorably in the United States Army. With the experience he obtained in the military it seemed the natural progression to go into the peace keeping force. He started his police career in Troup County Georgia. His most notable posts were that of Franklin City Police Chief for which he served for ten years, and the Newnan City Police Department from which he retired. Mr. Brooks was known by all to be a kind, level headed officer who treated all those he came in contact fairly. His contributions to the community’s her served made them a safer and more secure place to live. Before his health declined he loved to hunt and fish. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.

 

He is survived by his wife Linda McKenzie Brooks of Franklin, GA.; three daughters, Vicky Dittman of Fitzgerald, GA., Kati Adams (Jason) of Newnan, GA., and Kayla Brooks also of Franklin, GA.; one son, Michael Brooks (Gina) also of Fitzgerald, GA.; 8 grandchildren; one special grandson, Kaden Brooks of Franklin, GA.; and one great-grandchild.
