Her Life

Sister Hixie Bell Russell was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Auburn  and Carrie  Powell of Alexander City, Alabama on January 1. 1942.  Later on she was adopted by Rev. and Mrs. Herbert H.S. And Annie Pearl Saxton of Alexander City, Alabama. God came and shined on her and brought  peace to her soul on Tuesday, May   8, 2012 at EAMC in Opelika, Alabama.

She confessed Christ at an early age and later in life returned to Christ  and  joined the Miracle Missionary  Baptist Church, Alexander  City, Alabama.

In 1960, she graduated from old Laurel High School. In 1990 She attended truck driving school in Pensacola, Florida.

 

Two years later in 1992, she attended International Career Institute Nursing Program  out of Tampa, Florida and completed 2nd in her class. Hixie was known for her sense of humor, style, and fun-loving spirit. Her family desires that you celebrate her life rather than mourn her death.

She was preceeded in death by one brother, A.B. Powell

She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Wendell (Murriel) Saxton, Erwin (Mary) Russell, HueyHubert Russell all of Alexander City, Alabama; two daughters, Angela (Raymond) Tucker of Enterprise, Alabama and Elizabeth Russell of Alexander  City, Alabama;  three  brothers, Homer Powell of Detroit,  Michigan, James  (Daisy) Powell and Clinton  Powell of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Ola Mae Hughes of Columbus,Ohio and Francis Drake of Detroit, Michigan; nine grandchildren, LaCresha (John) Garcia of Opelika, Alabama, Perry (Latasha) Russell, Wendell Saxton, Jr., Erlando  Menniefield of Alexander City, Alabama, Kristia Menniefield of LaGrange, Georgia, Imesia Saxton, Delinski Russell, Princess Russell of Alexander City, Alabama,  Kennedy  Tucker  of Enterprise, Alabama;  six great-grandchildren, Rycke, Kintajah of Opelika,  Alabama,  Zoya, Lanay'shia, Laperious of Alexander  City, Alabama; a host of nieces and  nephews and other  relatives and friends  which supported her with visits and long talks, phone calls and prayers  during  her illness.
