Let the memory of Hollis be with us forever
  • 76 years old
  • Born on March 3, 1941 in Crown Point, New York, United States.
  • Passed away on December 15, 2017 in Port Charlotte, Florida, United States.

Hollis C. Lamb, 76, of Port Charlotte, Florida died unexpectedly on Friday, December  15, 2017, at his home in Port Charlotte.

Hollis was born March 3, 1941, in Crown Point, New York to the late Lawrence G. Lamb and Stella E. Wilcox Lamb.  He was a retired computer programmer/analyst and a US Army veteran.  He lived in Florida the majority of his adult life. In his youth, he was an accomplished horseman and gave riding lessons and trail rides at the family stable in the Adirondacks.  All of his life he loved fishing and boating, backyard BBQs and gardening.  He was obsessive about keeping his tomatoes pruned!  The family brought him great joy, he loved to “brag” about his children and grandchildren, but not in front of them.  He wanted them to stay humble and keep up the good work.  He was fortunate to enjoy many trips to the vacation home he and Joyce shared in North Carolina.

He is predeceased by his wife, Dianne E. Lamb, infant son, Scott Lamb and 3 brothers: George, Galen and Preston Lamb.

He is survived by his companion and soul mate, Joyce Metzger, a daughter, Tracy Lamb of Clearwater, FL; a son, Todd (Kasey) Lamb of New Smyrna Beach, FL; a sister, Charlotte (Harris) Hewitt of Chestertown, NY; a brother, Daryl(Pat) Lamb of Commerce City, CO and his 5 grandchildren – Joshua, Rayna, Grace, Hannah and Braden; his step families, the Adkins and the Stokes families and  especially step-granddaughter, Kayla who brought much joy to her “Grandpa”.

Committal services & interment will be on January 18th at 10am at the Sarasota National Cemetary

It's hard to believe we are at the 1-year anniversary of my brother, Hollis's, passing. Sometimes it feels like only yesterday he left us; other times, like forever ago. There are reminders of him every where, every day. Our hearts still ache, we still cry, but there are glimpses of smiles as we remember and treasure our times together. He may be physically gone, but is forever in our hearts. Your "favorite sister" (a quote from Hollis, since I'm the only sister!) wants you to know how much you are missed, and that "I love you, Bro".

I can remember Hollis and Uncle Lawrence using the whip at their rodeo show. RIP cousin. I'll watch out for your sister as much as I can. My condolences to your family.
