His Life

Hope was of the Baptist faith. He confessed his love for Christ at an early age as a member of St. James Baptist Church, Lanett, Al. He most recently worshipped at Eagles Nest Cathedral , West Point, Ga. under the leadership of Bishop Melvin Cartwright. He was a graduate of Valley High School in 1993. Hope, affectionately known as "POKIE" was a well known member of the West Shawmut community. He worked for 25 plus years as a Master roofer and carpenter. Skills learned from his father and grandfather as an employee of Ramsey and Son's Home Improvement. Hope's greatest gift was his love of family. His final unselfish act was as the primary caregiver for his mother, Tommie Jean, for the past 6 months. Hope was also known for his physical strength as well as his good nature. No matter the weather, you'd never see him wearing a coat. Hope is preceded in death by his father Willie E. Ramsey, Jr. who himself transitioned a mere 4 months ago.

Hope is survived by his mother, Tommie Jean McCauley Ramsey of Lanett, Al., his brothers Lanzio Manfreda Ramsey, Sr. (Dana) of Valley, Al., and Willie E. Ramsey III, of Lanett, Al., his beloved nieces & nephews Tiara Jada Ramsey (Chance & Braylen) of Lanett, Al.,Taj Jemin Ramsey and tevin Jared Ramsey, of West Point, Ga., Lanzio Manfreda Ramsey, Jr. & Adana L.M. Stingers (Aaliam & Leo) of Valley, Al., his aunts Mattie Pearl Brown, Daisy "Ned" McCauley, Gladys Jean Ramsey Zanders (Alvin, Sr.) of Lanett, Al., Marlene Boone Winston (Jerrell) of laGrange, Ga., his uncles Lamar McCauley (Vanessa) of Indianapolis, Ind., Roy E. McCauley (Brenda) & George Trammell of Lanett, Al., and two special cousins Kathy Ross Johnson (Alfred) of San Antonio, Tx., Twyla Ross Heard (Johnny) of Lanett, Al., a host of other endeared cousins & friends.
