When I was about four, Dad wanted to instill salesmanship in me. So he arranged brown bags with a dozen eggs each for me to sell door to door. He would coach on what to say and on how to overcome resistance. He also bought large quantities of men's hair product to sell door to door.. Over the years he had me listen to long play records on salesmanship and positive thinking. He shared his dream for me to be a yellow pages salesman as they lived the good life. As a result I tried newspaper ad sales which led to his dream job for me at Southwestern Bell selling yellow page ads. The sales skills helped me to succeed as a higher education administrator, teacher, and workforce trainer. Dad's obsesseion with developing my life skills began in my early years. His sacrifices to get higher education modeled the skills for two PhD's , a Masters and a Bachelors degree among six of his children.</p>
