I recently uncovered an audio cassette of you saying the dinner prayer in German. (Now I have to find a machine that can PLAY an audio cassette!)
It's been a day or two.

Earlier this week we observed the 7th anniversary of Mom's home-going, and today its yours. Both of you 7 years ago this week! 
Last night I dreamed about Gram... what a wonderful celebration for you together!

Lighting a candle today in your memory... This candle is a reminder of the light you shed into the world, I often remember some of your homilies or sharing from your devotional readings. Special memories.

Thinking of you on your special day...
I'm pretty sure you taught me to spell "Mississippi" and to pronounce "Constantinople". Wonder who you are teaching now.

Thinking of you especially today as this is the 100th anniversary of your birth!

It's a sunny afternoon in Escondido, but much of the country is struggling with a Polar Vortex which has left much of Texas (and other areas) without power or water this week.
Today I am lighting a candle in your memory... You are missed!

Ninty-nine years!! And we shall soon be observing the 5th anniversary of the week you and Mom joined the rest of your family "on the other side". Thinking of "the other side" reminds me of the crossing the Pilz family made in the early 30's... from Germany to a new life in America. How I wish I had asked for your memories of that transition.
