Howard James Carter (1925 2011)

Howard James Carter passed away March 24, 2011. He was born to Russell and Beaula Carter in Macon Mo. on December 25th 1925. He was one of six children. In 1943 Howard enlisted in the Navy. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Mobile, a light cruiser, and fought in the Pacific Theater until the end of the war. In 1958 Howard moved to San Bernardino California and worked as a carpenter and roofer till his retirement. On June 18th, 1960, Uncle Howard married Ellen Phelan. They remained married until she had passed away, in 1992. Howard never remarried nor did he and  Ellen have any children. Uncle Howard lived in the city of San Bernardino until 2009; at which time he moved in the high desert to live with his nephew and niece, Rusty and Kimberly Carter. Uncle Howard leaves behind a brother, James Carter, and sister Martha Brammer. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 with funereal at 11:45. am. Thursday, March 31 at Mark B. Shaw Mortuary, 1525 N. Waterman Ave. San Bernardino, with graveside services beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside.
