Hubert Anton Groene was born May 24, 1927 on the family farm near Aloys to Ferdinand and Margaret (Stieren) Groene. He attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and lived his life on the family farm, working with his parents and brothers. Hubert did farm work in Colfax County, enjoyed welding, and working with livestock. He retired from farming in 1994. Survivors include his brother John Groene of Schuyler; sister Elizabeth Ernesti of West Point; and numerous nieces and nephews. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Edward, Joe, Paul, and Clem; and sisters Theresa Peatrowsky and Gertrude Groene.
