His Life
July 16, 2016

He was born in Franklin, Georgia on April 11, 1949, the son of the late, Virginia Pearl Pike Thompson, and Wortham Thompson. He was a faithful member of the Franklin First Baptist Church. His family was always the most important thing in his life, and he would go to any length to provide for them. When work was slim in the southern states he twice moved his family to work in wilds of Alaska on the pipe-line so they could be cared for financially. When his children were older he wanted to get them back home to Georgia. He made a career change and served as a member of the security force at Southwire Manufacturing Company. He adored his children, and when the grandchildren came along he felt that life was complete. He considered himself very blessed to have been loved by two very special wives. Because he was the consummate husband, father, and grandfather he never took much time for himself, but when he did you would find him tinkering on and rebuilding old cars! His ever present love of his family, coupled with the kind, gentle manner in which he dealt with others made him dear to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Poore Thompson of Franklin, GA.; daughter, Tina Turner of Carrollton, GA.; son, Jeremy Thompson of Franklin, GA.; two sisters, Helen Bass of Franklin, GA., and Ann Longoria (Pete) of LaGrange, GA.; two step-daughters, Jodi Jones, and Tammy Jackson both of Franklin, GA.; step-son, Rodney Arnold of Carrollton, GA.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
