so here i am, sitting in your office, on your computer. as i look around, i can't help but smile. all i see is your jeff gordan hats, clock, flags, pictures. and i also see stuff for trains, or fishing stuff. and i see that mema suckerd you into putting some plants in here. sitting in here actually makes me really sad, and i try to remember all the good times we had. from you taking me fishing a couple times, to you bringing jarred and i camping. i remember everytime jarred and i went to go for a bike ride, you made us take our walking talkies incase something happened. and if we didn't you were mad. your sister and her husband just walked in. and knowing they're here, and you're not, makes me sad. i've been here since thursday, and this house just feels empty. and i feel lost. i don't know what to do. sitting in your chair, and not having you come yell at me and tell me to get out because you wanted to sit there is weird, or seeing your cord throughout the whole house is weird too. i miss it. i miss you. this house isn't the same. this family isn't the same. its seriously weird. even though we never had a lot of memories, because i live so far away, i will never forget you. you didn't have to marry mema and raise her ten kids, but you did. and you didn't have to treat their kids as your grandkids, but you did. and i'm honestly glad to call you my poppa. no matter what i've done, you were there to yell at me, and make me realize i needed to straighten up. thank you for everything poppa. i love you so much. and i miss you so much. <3

The JOY he brought my parents

June 28, 2013

Aunt Janie and Uncle Hugh would visit my parents often. They brought more joy to them than any one else. Mom so looked forward to it after Dad passed away.
They would catch her up on all the news and Hugh would listen to her, and tell her jokes and make her laugh and Aunt Janie to. She would call me up later to tell me all the news and the jokes and she would laugh telling me about it, and even now it makes me feel so good. Few would take the time to listen to mom. but he did.... he was and is a wonderful man, he married my Aunt Janie with pure love , and accepted all 10 children. He will be greatly missed.. love Pat and John Hodge

Memories

June 28, 2013

I remember one time when we were fishing on Lake Champlain with Vernon Mcgrath, Grandpa and myself. The boat broke down in the middle of the lake and the only thing he had was a measuring board for bass fishing and one ore. So Vernon and I started to paddel into the the boat launch and finally someone came along and asked if we needed a tow back to shore. We were so relieved that this gentlemen came to our rescue because we probably would of been out there for hours if it wasnt for him. We later found out that grandpas motor blew up on his boat. And then another time we were camping at Wescotts Beach in Henderson NY and we were just getting ready to leave had everything all packed and were heading back north to Plattsburgh, well grandpa backed the truck up to the camper and we thought it locked into the fifth wheel on the truck. Grandpa went to pull away and the camper dropped on the back of the truck, i have never seen my grandfather jump out of his truck so fast in my life, he later laughted about it. Once again someone came to our rescue from across the camp ground and helped us get the camper off the truck and made sure that the camper locked into the fifth wheel this time, we made it home safe after that. These are memories that i will never forget and everytime i think of them it brings a smile to my face and makes me laugh. I love you grandpa, you will surely be missed.
