The lunch that didn't happen for the last time

January 30, 2015
Dear Sarah, Elizabeth,

Please accept my sincere condolence for Dr. Sun passing away. May Dr. Sun rest in peace and may Lord's grace and comfort with your family at this difficult time.

My name is Jianping and I am Dr Sun's student at Drexel back in 1998. Dr.Sun took care of me while I was at school. He is my savior, my father and grandfather.

I last met with Dr. Sun last April. Dr. Sun invited me to visit the faculty with him togather. I am so sad that was our last time seeing each other.

In past few years we usally invite Dr.Sun for lunch at King buffet around holiday. Dr. Sun has always graciously accepted the invite and happy to join us. He brings stuffed animals for my kids for Christmas. There usually be around 7 or 8 of us joining from Drexel alumni.

This past holiday even though I have been thinking about doing the same, actually I thought about it often,  with all the other things going on, I didn't send the invite. How I wish I could have at least sent email to him for a holiday greeting.

There are certain things and certain people in life that we cherish in heart but didn't spend enough time and thoughts on. It is a sad thing you only realize when they left this world and leave you no chance to make it up.

I know Dr.Sun has taken great joy in Sarah and Elizabeth being close and around, and I wish you knowning that Dr.Sun is in a better place now and his soul must be still watching over you.

Please take care,

Jianping Zhao
