Just a few words...

January 4, 2013

Ian was
diagnosed with kidney cancer January 2011.. He was told that he would have to get one of his kidneys removed, he went for the operation and everything was looking up but were then hit with more bad news that the cancer had spread to his brain! He went through chemotherapy and radiotherapy which seemed to be helping and would need to be on medication for the rest of his life to keep the cancer at bay. Because of all this Ian had to retire at his job of a bus mechanic. Many years ago Ian used to work for his dads coach business called Ayres Coaches with his brother.. they all loved working in the family business but Ian's dad sadly passed at a young age and the business didn't do so great. Ian loved his job as a bus mechanic and was really upset when he had to medically retire! Was even more upset when he lost his drivers license. Ian's passion has always been motorbikes which he has passed down to his sons! They were always fixing up bikes out in their hut and spent hours together thinking of new ideas. Ian got Danny into motocross racing, Danny loves the thrill and excitement when riding.. he says, 'Its not a hobby, its a way of life and is in his blood' they were always going off to the races every weekend. When Danny reached 16, they bought him a Scooter for his birthday and he was finally on the road!

They all looked up to their dad a lot, Always full of smiles & laughter and of course some disputes but they loved spending time with each other.

Everything seemed to be going okay with Ian's cancer, in 2011 they said to him roughly a year so January 2012, this was constantly on Ian's mind and he got more ill but once his medication was sorted out he seemed to pick up a bit and he started to think more positive. We all then decided we didn't want to know what time he would roughly have. More bad news came which was unexpected as he was doing great (apart from putting on a lot of weight due to the steroids he was on to give him more energy and make him feel better) he got a scan on his brain to see what was happening and they discovered it had got bigger so the medication he was on had stopped working and they decided there is no more treatment they could give him so he has was diagnosed with terminal cancer. This hit everyone really hard..
One of Ian's dreams was to have a St.Bernard dog which they got last year and have called Harley after Harley Davidson.. few weeks ago they got another St. Bernard puppy! It was nice to see Ian happy and he's was a real family man & liked to have us all over. Ian is married to Linda and they have been married for 27 years! They have 2 kids, Kellyanne, Andrew & Danny. Andrew is in the Army and is posted over in Germany where he lives with his wife (Kathy) & two kids (Emmi & Declan) Kellyanne is also married and they have a little boy (Freddie). In the space of one year they all got married, as it meant a lot to them to make sure Ian was at all their weddings which he was and they were all special days. We all went to Ian & Linda's for Christmas this year and Andrew & Kathy managed to come over. It gave Ian something to stay strong & positive for. Was a fantastic day and was great having everyone together.

Ian and Linda are such a fantastic couple, great mum & dad and amazing grandparents. They always put their kids first and they all had a fun childhood.
