Love and miss you both. Think of many fun times with Dick and Imelda and especially the last time we were all together with Dick's siblings in Las Vegas.
It was a fun time for a small family reunion.

Mom, it is hard to believe you have been gone for 6 years now. I wanted to share that you have a beautiful grand daughter-in-law now. Her name is Giuli and she married Ethan on May 22. You would be so happy and proud for your grandson. I know they would make you and Dad smile. Love you and miss you!

Family is so important for growth, relationship and maintaining a healthy and successful life. My older brother Dick and my sweet loving sister-in-law Imelda gave me so much of that after returning home from Vietnam. There are so many memories of fun and laughter and deep serious conversations about life that I will never forget. Love and miss them, but I know they are in the place we all look forward to: "Walking the streets of Gold with Jesus".

Time passes way to fast. But the memories are always just a moment away and recalling the good times, the fun moments and all the delicious meals I had with Imelda and Dick in my young Naval years in San Diego. They both will always have a special place in my heart. Love you forever.

The last time I saw Dick and Imelda was at my Mom's 80th birthday. That was November 2007. Your parents drove in and were a wonderful surprise for Mom. They picked up where they had left off years ago. Your parents made my Mom a book about their time in Malta, as they were all stationed there together. I miss their laughter and your Dad's wit.

Bless you all,
Carol Buffkin McKillican (Connie Buffkin's sister)

What pleasant memories I have of my younger years in the Navy, while stationed in San Diego, CA. I spent many consecutive weekends with Imelda and Dick and many late evenings during those young years. They had much to do with my outlook on life, how I saw life and what the world had to offer. She always had smiles and encouragement for me, while brother Dick would give me some teaching tools and guidance for my Naval career. Although, we couldn't discuss his highly secretive projects, some of them did directly affect my working areas of my command and its fellow squadrons. Imelda, was always comforting and always reminded me of her coming and spending some winter months with us on the farm. Yes, she was a trooper, endured a great deal when first arriving in this nation, but she was so supportive and encouraging to her husband. She was his brick of sustainment and his best friend, and loudess cheerleader in all of his achievements. She was one-of-a-kind mother, wife and friend to all that crossed her path. We will always remember your joy, laughter and serving hospitality. You are missed, but know that you and your beloved are walking the streets of Gold, Praising the Lord Jesus for all the blessings that He blessed you two with during your precious years on this earth.
Love you, Dick's youngest brother, Ernie.

We had the pleasure of meeting Imelda when we lived in Valencia in the 70s. Our son Brent and Kraig went to school together and became friends. She and Dick held a special place in our hearts. We went to dances and other events at OLPH. She was always a very neat, kind and talented person. We also went on a cruise to Alaska with her and Dick and had a wonderful time and a lifetime full of memories.
We spent a weekend with them at their lovely home in the desert and enjoyed much kindness and many laughs.

I think about Dick and Imelda quite often, as a young sailor stationed in San Diego, CA, I spent many weekends visiting and going places with them.  I learned a great deal from both of them and many life lessons of integrity, honesty and humility was taken in by me.  One of the biggest attributes of Imelda was her love for people, especially family.  But like her awesome son, I too can remember that wonderful laugh.  They are great memories, cherished beyond the passing of them both.  Dick was my idol so to speak growing up and we resembled each other in facial features and talk.  I have heard many times over the years by nephews and nieces the idiosyncrasies shared by all the brothers.  It is so true with all families, but remembering them is so precious. Yes, they are together walking the streets of Gold, but they are so defined in each of our hearts.

Together Again

June 30, 2015

When Dad passed on January 21st, 2015, Imelda  who suffered from dementia had a hard time realizing he was gone.  It took several days for the thought of her Husband of 61 years being gone and with the Lord.  Imelda wept each day and each day she prayed to be with her husband in Heaven.  Food had no taste, water no nourishment!  In the months that past, Imelda quickly declined and after several hospitalizations and care in an memory care facility she went home to be with Dick on June 16th, 2015.  They are together again!

I will miss you both Mom & Dad.....Thanks for the time we shared her on Earth. Farewell for now until we meet again in Heaven!

Malta Family Trip of 1999

June 27, 2015

During one of the many family dinners in Malta, the brothers were off in a corner laughing telling tales. Mom from the other side of the table was laughing along with them. When Uncle Edwin asked mom "what are you laughing about?" Mom replied, "I don't know, I am laughing because you are laughing!"  At that point the whole family roared in laughter!

She just enjoyed being with the whole family, laughing! Thanks for the wonderful memory Mom!
