Educational Scholarship

In recognition of our mother's commitment and service to African American students we will award two scholarships annually to deserving high school seniors beginning May 2014.

To apply please forward the following information:


1. Letter from school counselor documenting you will be attending college in the fall.

2. A paragraph including your name, address, phone number, email, and parents names. Also include which school you attend and will attend in the fall. Academic major and college/career goals. 

3. Please also indicate financial need. Why are you applying for the scholarship and what will it be used for?

Ireather Carmichael Marshall was born February 3, 1942 in Monroe County and raised in Vredenburgh, AL to the late Hattie and Thomas Spencer. She graduated from Union High School and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church where she has been a lifelong member. She also attended Lily Baptist Church in Frisco City, AL. She married Frank R. Marshall and they have six children. On April 18th, 2013, the Lord sent down an angel to give her rest. She exchanged her earthly body for her spiritual place in heaven. She is preceded in death by her sisters: Josephine, McCants, Ivery Mae Atkinson, O'neal Spencer, Johnny Lee Spencer and Mary Carstaphony (god sister).
