It is with a saddened heart that after a challenging struggle, God came and took Irene (Gaydon) Daviau, Home in His arms on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at the age of 96.  She leaves behind her daughter Carol Gaw (Eldon) and son Ken (Josée). Predeceased by her husband Sylvio, son Roger (Danielle) and sister Joan (Ted).  She loved and was very proud of all her seven grandchildren and her ten great-grandchildren.

She had been in the Queensway Carleton Hospital fighting double pneumonia for two weeks.  She wasn't alone and went peacefully about 3:30 in the afternoon.  The family wishes to thank Dr. Arget and Dr. Bruni, and nurses, Pam, Tamara, Jenn, KC, Eddie, Martine, Sunny and others, for their special care and compassion.

Following her wishes, she will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Pinecrest Funeral Home, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa.

Donations to her favourite charity, the Ottawa Humane Society, would be appreciated.

Please note that Pinecrest requires that you follow social distancing and wear a mask.  Thank you.

With the distance between us I probably only met my Aunt Irene on no more than half a dozen occasions, once when she came “home” with Ken and on the occasions I visited her new “home” in Canada. Each were memorably, happy times and it is with sadness that I didn’t see her again when I last visited in 2019. May Aunt Irene rest at peace, reunited with her family who have died before her. With love ❤️

Aunt Irene was a Lady who came to Canada and a new family with courage. I remember our first meeting around Christmas time, all of us sang Goodnight Irene, Goodnight, as she joined in, which made her popular to the nephews and nieces.
She had style, grace and much courage.
Rest in Peace Auntie.
