OBITUARY for IRENE HALLIWILL

 

 

HALLIWILL, Irene W.  Irene Woodfin Halliwill passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 28, 2013. She is a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend born April 27, 1920 to Henry “Lee” and Leighora “Ora” (Jackson) Woodfin in Rockford, Alabama. Irene spent her first 24 years in Alabama graduating from Wetumpka Alabama High School and Alabama Business College. She maintained beautiful southern charm throughout her life.

She married Lt. Richard James Halliwill in Albany, Georgia, April 22, 1944. The family settled in Ohio after WWII. The family moved to Lancaster California in 1959 and became active in church, community and school activities. Her husband Dick preceded her in death after 58 years. Three sons were born to them Richard Lee Halliwill sole surviving son of Marietta, GA . Two sons preceded her in death Robert Craig Halliwill and John Parker Halliwill both of Lancaster CA . Grand children surviving are Cecilie Lyn Halliwill, Jill Fuller, Eric Halliwill and Cody Francisco Halliwill. Daughter in law Linda Halliwill, great grandkids... Abagail Primeaux, Jacob Larkee, Gabe Halliwill, Jaime Fuller, Jason Fuller and Kyle Fuller all had the blessing of knowing and loving her. All five great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins will miss her hugs.  One sister Jeanette Rainwater of Mableton, Georgia, survives her 2 brothers and 1 sister that have preceded her death.

She devoted her life as a caregiver, homemaker and volunteer worker. She has been an active member of First Baptist Church and Grace Chapel. She taught Sunday school over 30 years, Den Mother and Scout Mother. Many remember her as Noon Duty Supervisor at Joshua Elementary for the Lancaster School District for 14 years.  American Baptist Women’s Conference Chairwoman 4 years Deaconess several years and Chairman of the Board. Hospice volunteer 5 years. She continued to share her caregiving experience with those staying with her at Lancaster Haven.
