September 13, 2022
I received the news of the death of Isaac Adebayo Owolabi (Owoblow) with rude shock in the evening of Thursday 7th September 2020 but with total submission to the will of the Almighty God.
I was posted to teach at St Leo's Teacher's College, Abeokuta in March 1984, and I met Mr Bayo Owolabi as a teacher at the College then.
We later were offered accommodation at the same line of staff quarters within the school compound.
During our teaching career at the TTC (1984-1989) he was known to be intelligently hardworking. He also related very well with all. His wife, Mama Kemi and the children were of a very wonderful family.
His amiable relationship continued at our next posting, St Leo's High School, Abeokuta from 1989 till 1993 when I got transferred out of the school.
He was a versatile English language teacher and was very diligent in his calling.
We together examined students of the TTC for many years during which his resilience, zeal and doggedness propelled many of us to carry on with the audious activity.
Despite the enormous workload at the time, he devoted ample time to the training of his children and the development of some members of his extended family.
Owoblow was a good mixer, sociable , outspoken and humorous. He was also very generous.
Our last physical meeting was at the after Thanksgiving service reception organized in the memory of Sir Tunji Akiniyi at Abeokuta a few months ago when we sat together on the same table and had reminiscences and other discussions.
Since then we had been communicating on social media variously.
Mr Owolabi is supposed to start reaping from the fruits of his labor at this time but the Omnipresent knows the best.
A sa ti ko wipe "ninu oun gbogbo, ka sa ma dupe" In all things, give thanks.
A hardworking, courageous, intelligent administrator and committed father is gone to be with the Lord.
May the Almighty God console mama Kemi, all the children, all grandchildren and the entire family.
May he find peaceful rest at the bosom of his creator.
Adieu Owoblow!
Adieu Baba Kemi!
Adieu Isaac Adebayo Owolabi!
Till the resurrection day.
Mr and Mrs Alexander Olusegun Obadimu,
(Abeokuta)
