Tribute to Daddy Ajifowobaje - Engr. Isaac Olufemi Ajifowobaje

Daddy was a shining light in the whole family. We grew up with his name on everyone's lips as an epitome of success. His hard work was legendary, and so was his commitment to his faith, family and community. I remain eternally grateful to you for the opportunity you provided to many of us within the family and beyond.
Rest on, dear Daddy till the day of resurrection.

TRIBUTE TO DADDY AJIFOWOBAJE (ENGR. FEMI AJIFOWOBAJE) - ALHAJI IDOWU ORIMAKINDE CHILDREN

We were looking forward to celebrating Daddy Ajifowobaje’s 80th birthday instead writing a tribute, but God knows best – It is well! Daddy Ajifowobaje was a family man and an amazing father not only to his children but to many.

He was my Dad’s childhood friend and they remained close all through the years with a relationship that transcend from friendship to, what I consider, family-ship. Daddy Ajifowobaje was there for us all - making himself and his resources available to support us through life-events. I remember how you supported me at my wedding and still cherish the picture of my Sisters Bukky, Eniola, Jumoke, Bimbo and Ife wearing their own aso ebi.

We pray that faith will comfort us, and Almighty God will continue to strengthen the family and loved ones. Our prayer is for family and loved ones to find the peace and strength that comes in knowing that a loved one has gone to their eternal rest.

Rest in the bosom on the Lord, Daddy Ajifowobaje

TRIBUTE TO OUR SECOND DADDY, ENGR. FEMI AJIFOWOBAJE - BY THE FAMILY OF PASTOR (ENGR.) JOSEPH FISO OYENIJI

We were literally born into your arms.. You were there as we grew up and passed through the different phases of life till adulthood.

Almost everyone who knew our family knew yours. Through relocations, travels, career, marriages and life journey, this bond never broke..

There is simply no writting your life story without the mention of our dear Dad, Pastor (Engr) Joseph Oyenji. Likewise, there is no writing our Dad's life story without Daddy Ajifowobaje in it.

Indeed you both shared a friendship closer than that of brothers. You taught our generation that true friendship means Family! For this, we remain ever grateful to you both.

Your passing away was a loss of a second Dad. We take solace knowing that you're resting in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ and also welcomed home by your dearly beloved ones.

May God almighty grant you eternal rest and keep we all your children in perfect peace and harmony.

Bye Second Dad..we miss and love you so much ❤️❤️❤️

A whole day, week, month and even year could come and go with me not being able to express myself and feelings in words. The smile, the laugh, the talk, the voice, the struggling times, the happy moments, the correction times, the understanding, the joy, the nicknames(radio catanger…), the warnings, the advice, the care and most of all the LOVE. Daddy if I where told that you would leave me alone in the next 10years to come I would deny, reject and even scold whosoever tells me so, cause I believe and feel that you would last more than that together with all your loved ones but I believe that God knows best, but I am yet to understand why it had to be so soon. I wonder if I could ever find someone like you on earth again. Daddy I love you, I love you and would continue loving you in health, earth and beyond. You left me at a very crucial point in my life, but I believe God still knows best and I know all you always want is peace, joy and happiness for us all. Daddy I believe you are still next to me so I will just say Daddy I LOVE YOU and THANKS for LOVING me TOO.

Olu mi, as I use to call you. You came, you saw and you conquered. I thank God for your life. My best friend, prayer partner… you were never tired in surrendering yourself if only to make others happy and be at peace. You were loving , jovial and a caring father. I will never say goodbye to you, my husband because we know this is not the end for us to see each other, you are only at a place where there is no pain and suffering… man of peace.
I miss you my husband, but I take comfort from God who is the creator and author of life. Till we meet to part no more. Ija dopin, ogun si tan…

With sorrow in my heart, I bid you farewell daddy. Your death gives a new meaning to the words “dying young”, it’s not just by age, it’s by heart and will to live. Indeed you were “young at heart and had a strong will in life”. Your smile ever so contagious and vibrant. Daddy was a visionary; he could see the end result of his plans before he began them.
We had so many plans together, so many milestones to mark. Who would have known that my cooking partner, teacher, an historian, a pride less learner such as yourself, a disciplinarian with a heart softer than you can imagine, my father and friend is now gone…it’s so sad when good people die.
But I am hopeful about life; your teachings, your care and your acts of genuine kindness is the bedrock for my path.
Thank you so much daddy I love you soo much.

ISAAC OLUFEMI AJIFOWOBAJE- Egbon By Destiny
I met Bro Femi for the first time on his wedding (bachelor's) eve which took place at his Fola Agoro residence in the early seventies. I have heard a lot of pleasant things about him through many different sources especially at Government Trade Centre Owo where he was the Senior Prefect two sessions before I was admitted.
I was curious about him not because of his stature or his standing lordly beside Thomas Main, the white Principal, in a photograph but because the picture was widely in possession almost everybody I met. This meant to me that the "Supreme" as we used to call Senior Prefects, must be a good and loved fellow
Busuyi Adedeji a.k.a Dodonso Matinga (rip) who adopted me as a brother was his brother. This means that most of the discussions I had with Dodonso at school were punctuated with Femi Ajifowobaje. The name either started our discussion, appeared in the middle or ended it. No wonder when Dodonso left school for Lagos in search of job, Ajifowobaje's place was his first choice of residence. While Dodonso lived with Ajifowobaje in Lagos, my road to meet him someday became destined. Destiny to meet him was further cemented by his relationship with my siamese friend Kayode Odeleye who got employment with Guinness where Bro Femi was working. My meeting with Bro Femi was not to be achieved through any of the two sure routes mentioned. I had left ShellBp to join Western Nigeria Water Corporation in 1971 where Alhaji Azeez Idowu-Orimakinde ex Director of M&E became my boss and I lived with him. I soon discovered that Bro Femi was his childhood friend. I eagerly joined him to Lagos to attend his Wedding. I can never forget his first reaction towards me when Alhaji Idowu introduced me to him on our first meeting. "Ah Isola, am happy to meet you at last. I have been hearing good things about you from people and your friend Kayode. Please keep it up" he wouldn't let go my hand. He showed me the love he had bottled for me that night. We spoke at length that night and he answered my question on why Susan was not it.
The next time Bro and I would meet was when he was transferred to Ibadan here en route his retirement. This brought us so close that I became one of his inner room confidants. He commissioned me to perform assignments to facilitate his quick settling down in Ibadan.
Brother is open and loving without conditions. His heart was outside his body uncaged and unprotected, unlike others who have theirs in rib-cage of lies and deceit in their bodies. Little wonder his life journey with many bruises.
Sunre brother.
Isola Olajide.

Daddy, I really miss you. Never knew you would leave so soon because I just did not see you grow old. All i saw was a vibrant and energetic man. You were indeed a good man, you left a positive impact on everyone you met.

Dad, your life has made me realise that the quality of a father can be seen in the goals, dreams and aspirations he sets not only for himself but for his family. You instilled in us discipline, patience, resilience and a good sense of responsibility
I say thank you; for these have helped me in the journey of life.

Rest well Dad.

I am still trying to get over the fact that I will never see you on this side of the world.

I looked forward to creating more memories but you left unexpectedly.

I want to thank God for the memories we had together. Memories of your discipline, love, words of wisdom and encouragement.

I believe you are in a better place.

TO MY DADDY.

I met you in kano when l was bearly 19.l was dragged by my then heartrob (now my husband).l was super scared I was gonna drop off in kaduna but he insisted l must see you.To my amazement you were very friendly and kind to me,you told me about all the trips you had to travel on the job and l really enjoyed your company.I remembered we discussed about my course of study and you were full of encouragement.

As a father to your biological children you were a very loving and a hardworking man.l remember you telling me to make sure they eat back in okota.

Life happened, and l still have that lovely note you dropped a day after our registry in year 2000. The fact that you were eager to make amend of those mistakes makes you a great man.) To err is human and to forgive divine.

I sincerely pray that God will count you worthy and grant you eternal rest.

Goodnight Dad.

TRIBUTE

Hhmmm.
I guess no one knew it was coming, but even the best planning never prepares you for the loss of a loved one.

I met Daddy (Grand Pa Ibadan as Olivia fondly called him) for the first time as a potential Son-in-law, but he changed my perspective and understanding of our relationship from Son-in-law to Son-in-love .

You happened to be the very first being who gave me a very long and affectionate hug having greeted you when I first met you.

I knew you to be a Brave , Bold, Courageous and Industrious man and father with compassionate love for all and sundry.

In 2010, you insisted that myself and Olori (My wife) should see you while returning from Ilesha. And we did. I will never forget all your words of wisdom and encouragement then as young couple. You encouraged us to put God first in all we do, and never to allow anyone to convince or confuse us to place man before God. No matter our challenges, you advised us to stand firm and be united in love and in Christ.

The good that men do lives after them and a good name, they say, is better than Silver and Gold. On these premises, I remember how at the mentioned of your name ; Eng. Isaac Ajifowobaje, pave way (favour) for me and Olori on a particular faithful day.

You were an epitome of what the Yorùbás call Opomulero ....and what the Bible describes as Pàtàkì Igun Ilé (Head of the Corner Stone).

Continue to rest in the bossom of the Lord. We love you Daddy but God loves you most.

Ewuoso Obatunde.

Daddy,

I call you boss behind your back even though the last time we met (Januarry 2020), you revealed that you knew we all refer to you as BOSS.
You were indeed the Boss...you laid the foundation of whatever anyone of us are today (Your biological children and us their cousins) directly or indirectly.
You made mistakes that serves as lessons for most of us.

What i will miss most is your wisdom (one can always count on you for wise counsel ) and the memory of you in Kano.
As tough as you were, you still had a great sense of humor. I remember your popular joke of how "a tree can not make a forest"...it was inspiring and funny. I also remember a joke about me back then ( bi e she nwo boy seye yen, ko si nkan ti ko le din, as a matter of fact, o le din elubo....lol).
You were my mathematics teacher...you thought me Pythagoras theory back then even out of you busy schedule.

You have seen it all, and done it all...you lived life on your own terms.

I never get to really thank you for the impact you made in my life because i didn't expect you to leave us any time soon.

I pray you rest in peace

Daddy, you were 79 but seemed so young, I was looking forward to your 80th with Joy but GOD decided it was time to be reunited.

I feel you were not appreciated enough for all you did, personally, I could have said "Thank you daddy for your sacrifices" a lot more.

You were a man of principle and that came across as tough love. A man of pristine taste, considerate, and generous at heart. I cannot but wish you were alive to share future memories but I know you are with us, at heart.

Thank you, sir, for your focus on quality education and for the life lessons you impacted both directly and indirectly.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY DAD

Going by your look one could say you will still be around us for the next 15 to 20 years. I never knew i will be writing a tribute in your honour so soon, I still can- not help but wished it hadn't happened yet. It was a privilege to have called you Dad for over 40 years.

What is the measure of a man? Is it the amount of money he has? The possession he owns or the power he holds? Is it the professional success he has achieved over the years? I don't believe it is any of these things. The true measure of a man is how much love he gives; how selflessly he shares whatever he has to help others; how consistently he lifts up those around him with a kind words, a compliment, a humble ear or a helping hand.

By this measure, my Dad was Immeasurable, you were selfless and ever ready to help people and also champion any course that you believe in. I remain grateful and comforted knowing how much your life positively affected the lives of others. This has been more evident in the various testimonies we have heard from people since your passing.

You loved us your children and were passionate about our success in life through Education you demonstrate this to us by your relentless and arduous efforts in getting us all well- educated and attain our full potential in life.

Writing a Thesis in your honour is not enough to express the way i feel about you dad you have craved your name in my heart not on tombstone...

Sun ree oooo! My dear father Isaac Olufemi Adisa omo Omowunmi pesunmbiola.

"A TRIBUTE TO A LEADER AND BRIDGE BUILDER, : THE LATE ENGR. ISAAC OLU'FEMI AJIFOWOBAJE (1941 - 2021) BY KOLA. ADE. AKINJOKUN

The late Engr.. Olu'femi Isaac Ajifowobaje was a year ahead of me at the then Government Trade Centre (now GOEVRNMENT TECHNICAL COLLEGE) , Owo when I was admitted in September, 1966.
Reliable information indicated that the late Isaac Ajifowobaje was among the set of students who secured their admission at the then Government Trade Centre, Oshogbo for Electrical Installation Works, but the Western State Government , for 'good reasons' suddenly decided to merge that Course with the one at G.T.C. Owo. Hence the Course was abolished at the Oshogbo Centre, and Owo Centre had to run two arms of Electrical Installation Works. That was the third year of the establishment of the Owo Centre. The students admitted at Owo Centre were grouped in the 'A' arm and accommodated in HOSTEL ONE otherwise known as OWO HOUSE while those from Oshogbo constituted the 'B' arm for HOSTEL FOUR also known as ONDO HOUSE. Thus in September 1965, G T C Owo commenced the running of Electrical 'A' and 'B'.
Naturally, the group from Oshogbo felt inconvenienced, yet had to pursue their chosen career but with minimum relationship with their colleagues in Electrical 'A'.
To the discerning, the strained relationship was apparently obvious.
In the succeeding session, 1966/67, there was hardly any noticeable improvement in the interactions between those two arms. The situation was exercerbated by the fact that each group operated in separate workshops, classrooms hostels and of course with full compliment of Instructors. The only common facility was the dinning hall.
I knew the late Isaac in 1966 as an easygoing, simple, and studious personality but at the end of that session, I realized that he was highly intelligent and a diligent crowd puller and goal getter when he won election to become the School Senior Prefect for 1967/68 session. That was when he
demonstrated the genius in him as a bridge builder. He tried and succeeded to broker peace, engender healthy mutual relations and ensured that both groups A and B struck a deal to relate together as brothers like never before. He ensured that no student was victimised or intimidated by another and he related with all students as the father of all, after the fashion of his predecessor Engr. Boluade Ogunmodede.
The late Engr. ISAAC Olufemi Ajifowobaje graduated from G.T.C. Owo, in June 1968 in flying colours. As fate would have it, I never saw him thereafter.
Sleep on Isaac, in the bosom of your creator. Rest on Olufemi, till Christ comes. You have played your godly part and there your honour lies eternally. Adieu."

I wish I could come to deliver the tribute personally but for health challenges associated with age. Please bear with me.
My condolences to the entire family. May the Lord grant them the fortitude to bear the great loss and may the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace.

Death is inevitable, it is a journey that everyone must take. Often times we wish death wasn’t a part of life, we wish we would just stay alive on earth with our near and dear ones not dying. But unfortunately, we cannot. Our prayer is that we fulfill our days on earth and grow old before our time is up. We also pray that the soul of our dear father will rest in perfect peace

When I heard his passing to glory I stood up and went to play amazing grace on my grand piano, the same song I learnt to play on his old grand piano. My very own way of paying my tribute. Just as we used to play together in okota.

How will I ever forget the great old grand piano in okota? I love playing it. At 8 I told myself I will replicate this aspect and thus where I got the inspiration of owning a grand piano. He encouraged me from time to time and we twice played along. It’s been over 3 decades now but yet memories of his humility, love for his children still fresh and never negotiated. His smiles were gentle abs reassuring. The smiles of a great future in the midst of hopelessness.

Dad I know you are in a better place. May you continue to rest in peace as you unite with your brother my very own uncle Biodun. Till we meet to part now more, I sorely miss you.

I met buoda Femi in August 1971 when I started work as Apprentice Electrician in Guinness Nig.Ltd., Ikeja upon finishing my course of training at the Government Trade Centre, Owo. He had finished from the same school 3 years earlier. He had left the school the school in June 1968 while my set came in in September. We did not meet him in the school but we knew him by reputation as we continously heard stories of him being a good man and the senior prefect in his final year. I was therefore elated when I met him in Guinness more so that he was my supervisor. That was how my journey with buoda Femi started, a journey of almost 50 years! He took me as a younger brother all the while. He mentored me. He guided me. He assisted me as only a big brother would. We shared countless good memories together in the course of our journey: from the birth of his first child, to our going back to school in Auchi between 1972 and 1975, to my several visits in company of my wife to him in the North in the eighties, to his post retirement stay in Ibadan. Buoda Femi was kind. He was generous. He was humane. He was jovial and sociable. He was Godly. He was loving and caring. He was a gentleman. Buoda, my wife and I can never forget you. Your passing is our loss but we are consoled by our belief that you are now with the Lord. May your gentle soul rest in peace. Gbogbo ohun ti e fi sile ko ni baje o. 27th day of January will forever be an unforgettable day for me.That was the day the sun set for my dear Uncle Engr Isaac O. Ajifowobaje. In his lifetime, he was nicknamed the "boss" and he fulfilled the role of one in a very positive way.

He touched so many lives positively and I can say with all boldness that on the maternal side of his extended family where I belong, he left no one untouched with his warm, accommodating and generous nature. As a manager in PZ PLC in his heyday, the whole family had at least a representative who either had their education funded by him or a business venture established for or with them.

How can I forget how he donated certain percentage of his income consistently until my ticket fare to the UK was complete.

A man who believed in quality and high standards He demonstrated this through the quality education he gave his Children.

He often referred to himself as being young at heart and this was reflected through his word and actions. He would often ask me to apply black dye on his graying hair and beard to look younger. No wonder he maintained his young, handsome and boyish look till the end.

He was a lover of God and would often thank God with pride that God truly loves him according to his name "OLUWAFEMI"

An intelligent, forthright and dogg
ed fighter.
He came. He fought the good fight and left with his head held high.Glory be to God.

TO LEAVE PLEASANT MEMORIES IN THE HEARTS OF THOSE WE LOVE IS NOT TO DIE. KEEP ON LIVING.

TRIBUTES
Hmmmmmm ! Erin looo !! Iroko nla wooo !!! Another Icon, the one and only Okikiibon has gone to rest. We shall miss your counsel, wisdom, deep insight and candour.
A great Nigerian (precisely; a Great IJESHA-MAN). Accomplished Engineer/Administrator, Astute Philosopher, Philanthropist of Repute, A wonderful Family Man!!!

The great Philosopher LONGFELLOW in cherishing the life and Times of Great Men wrote "The lives of great MEN all remind us we can make our lives sublime, and departing leave our foot-prints on the sands of time.
The above Succinctly epitomizes the life of Dear Uncle ISAAC OLUFEMI AJIFOWOBAJE.
Shakespeare Summarized it all in his treatise that the world is a stage and we mortals are mere players with our Entries and Exits.
The HOLY BOOKS also encapsulates this philosophy of life thus: "There is a Season for everything, a time to be born and a time to die".
Upon these threshold of life, stood our departed hero, Uncle 'Femi Ajifowobaje. He was so many Virtues rolled into his Octogenarian life: he was full of Wisdom, Intellect, Energy, Dedication, Perseverance, Loyalty and on top of it all Humility, even in the face of earthly adversity.

I met Uncle 'Femi in 1984, during my (NYSC) service year with P. Z. Industries Plc. in Jos. He came to takeover from the then Station Manager (Alh. Lateef Igbin) who was retiring from active service. On arrival, he called me and said he heard a lot about me positively and that I should not hesitate to ask for anything I needed. True to his word I never lacked. During lunchtime, he would come over to my office and take me out to the best restaurant in town for delicious meals on his account. When he secured a befitting accommodation (a 4-bedroom bungalow at Apolo Crescent, GRA, Jos) he ensured that I moved in with him as a Family member. Furthermore, at any given opportunity, he would buy me a return ticket to visit my family in Lagos as long and often as I'm able to secure my travelling permits from NYSC secretariat.
He is one of those that made my wedding ceremony a huge success. And until his demise, he was always there for us.

My great Mentor’s (Uncle I. O. Ajifowobaje) transition was indeed devastating news. Today, even though his passing into glory is an irreplaceable loss to us, we take solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life and that God has vindicated you and made you triumph in all aspects of life. You fought a good fight and conquered. Very importantly, you have now gone to your gracious LORD and SAVIOUR to rest in His bosom.

The most relevant things about life, is not how long but how well we live and legacies left behind.
Uncle (Engr.) 'Femi Ajifowobaje, we love you but God loves you best. Your kindness to the known and unknown will be remembered forever. May your soul be rewarded immensely. Amen.
Sleep on with the LORD.

On Behalf of the JINADUS, I say rest in peace Uncle Olufemi Ajifowobaje. I pray that the good Lord will give your great Family the fortitude to bear your transition. Adieu ! Adieu !! Adieu !!!

Dear Boss,

You ain’t called the boss for no reason, you were very accommodating and a great leader. I can recall that over 10 uncles were staying at your home during my childhood way back in 1977, my experience with you was good and bad and over my life journey I have come to realise and appreciate that those experience I considered bad was because you wanted me to be a better person in life as those were the basic principles of success in life and not getting carried away by those things you frowned at has made me a better person in life. I recall a time when I came second best in my class exams and only to drop outside of the top 5 the next term and you weren’t having any of that, to you I had lost some focus for that to happen, I consider that strict then but later realised that to be very successful and repeat success in life one need to remain focussed all the time. Your basic principles were top notch, never extravagant even though you had the means, it is still like a dream that you have gone to sleep with the Lord, I keep imagining that like the name we call you {Boss) that we will see you in anothe movie. I want to say thank you a million times for all you did for me and a lot of others, I never knew that when we spoke late November that it will be the last. Adieu Dad.

You came to my world when all hope was lost, you thrust me forwards ever, no one knew you are not my biological father. What an Angel you were. You improved my knowledge and gave me a sound mind, thank you for edifying me, you are not only a prestigious mentor, but a caring and kind father to me, you are a priceless gem, a great mentor all round, I'm worth a great value today because you've nurtured a priceless gift in me. I am rediscovered and refined because of you.
May you rest well sir. You came, you fought and you won. Our consolation is that you are with Christ. Good night BOSS.

My beloved dad, it is sad to say goodbye to you now. I was thinking of your 80th birthday when the rude shock of death took you away.

I appreciate your love for me so much so. You were a super dad to me. You had a great and large heart for people. Thank you for all your sacrifices and love for us.

You will forever be missed by your children. I know you are in a better place, keep enjoying the blossom of your maker.

Your loving daughter,
Olajumoke Adebero nee Ajifowobaje.

Dear dad,

This is IFE's so long a letter.
I know I struggled a lot with your concepts and ideals. I couldn't just fathom it. I wanted to enjoy life and get everything at my finger tip but you never allowed it.

Now I am also a parent and I see from your angle now. Thanks for your hard teachings that has birthed the person I'm gradually becoming.

Is my "thank you" too late?
Can you read this?

If you can, then I will say

" Dad, I love and appreciate you. Thanks for the hard love and for all you did for my siblings and I".

Dad,

I am just coming to terms with the reality of your passing, i remember our last meeting one month before you left us, never knew you were saying your goodbye, i know you are in a better place rest on till we meet to part no more.

As we look back over time
We find ourselves wondering …..
Did we remember to thank you enough
For all you have done for us?
For all the times you were by our sides
To help and support us …..
To celebrate our successes
To understand our problems
And accept our defeats?
Or for teaching us by your example,
The value of hard work, good judgment,
Courage and integrity?
We wonder if we ever thanked you
For the sacrifices you made.
To let us have the very best?
And for the simple things
Like laughter, smiles and times we shared?
If we have forgotten to show our
Gratitude enough for all the things you did,
We’re thanking you now.
And we are hoping you knew all along,
How much you meant to us. Farewell Dad. We love you!

The drunken sailor

February 27, 2021
Boss boss as he was popularly called.

Whenever my siblings and I come with our numerous bills, dad will begin to slash the excesses and then say "Do you think I will spend money like a drunken sailor?"

It was an annoying question back then but sounds funny now.
Miss you so much!
